I didn't even know it was a book. So I can't vouch for the book.

I watched the film not expecting much. It was a late friday night and I just wanted to watch something freaky. Considering it stars someone whom I feel is grossly overrated as an actress, I wasn't expecting much. But I was wrong. I was, really, really wrong.

The movie is damn near a work of art. It also made me reconsider the lead actress' acting chops and depth. (I still don't think she's super attractive like everyone else does but I digress.) It'd be a really great movie even with a different actress though, it's not like her acting was pivotal to its power.

Still can't believe they cast Scarlett Johansson as the lead in the film adaption of Ghost in the Shell (2017) . I mean she isn't the worst choice but really The Major should have been a Japanese actor .

I 100% agree and I refuse to see the film because of that. Motoko Kusanagi is Japanese. End of story.

Besides there's no way in hell Hollywood can beat the original anime film with a live action CGI'd to hell crock of shit.

You know, when someone told me about that, I was annoyed, too. However, an episode of the podcast Imaginary Worlds got me thinking more about it, and now I'm not sure. I'm still pissed at Hollywood for jumping right to the blonde white girl, but I don't know that I'm opposed to a non-Japanese Motoko any more.

The podcast episode is 22 minutes long. You should give it a listen and check back in to see if it did anything to change your mind on the issue.

I mean I know that The Major is a full body swap basically meaning they could literally have anybody play her and justify it that way, but I just don't really see Scarlett Johansson pulling her off very well.

OMG you really should see House II. That movie is Troll 2 tier amazing.

Put it this way: House II is basically a horror version of Weekend At Bernie's. And yet what I've just told you does not actually prepare you for how bat-shit insane it really is.

Alas, it appears I just have the first House (damn.) But looking at a couple screenshots, I want to say I've seen House II. Did it use to air on SciFi back in the day? And did they ride off into the sunset, old western style, in a horse drawn carriage? If that's right, than that's the only thing I remember of the movie, other than thinking, "...this isn't anything like the last one...."
