Pokémon Go
Re: Pokémon Go
GPS only checks every few seconds, so if you make too many loops or turns it will read only the shortest straight line between readings.

Re: Pokémon Go
It was only going about a rotation a minute, but it is all moot since the record player died. The next one will be a 16ft circle, that should fix that problem.
Re: Pokémon Go
Another good day. I went to check out the flagpole gym and saw it was Valor again, already at level 5 with an 1100CP Seaking at the bottom and 1800 to the next level. A perfect opportunity for my second Exeggutor under 1100 to train it up! Water types can't stand the power of the sun, and even though this Seaking had 2 ice moves (effective against grass), the high HP of this Exeggutor withstood it!
I got my slot, with the better Exeggutor in there of course! (As of right now, the gym is now level 7!)
After that, I drove down to the gas station to pick up supplies for my re-supply time later in the day and it was a good thing I did, because as I came out, an elusive shadow I've been chasing for a while now has decloaked into a new Pokémon!
Stats are great and it's CP is high for a wild Pokémon. It also has Bone Club. Its a keeper!
I'm at 3 gyms now, and Flareon is still way out there near the sea. Daily bonuses rule!

Re: Pokémon Go
Anyone having problems with the new update. I'm finding old errors have come back -- crash/network issue trying to pop into random gyms. The game will just get stuck, have to restart it. Or you won't register any screen presses until a restart. Also a new one coming home a bit ago, it would just while I was driving randomly stop walking, wait a moment, then run up, wash - rinse - repeat for a good mile. It's making it annoying to get stuff.
That said though I think the walking counter for candy is busted. I'm finding it will just reward it even when I was going along a road at 25mph when the walk cut off is 20.
Oh and at least I finally got 2 non-crap 2km eggs (finally no weedles.) I got a really sold in the 500s charmander and bulbasaur with solid ratings too. They're going to get candied up and kept. Caught a couple more seel today too, still not enough to evolve. Also snapped up many more pidgey. Currently I have like 120 of those candies plus the birds to back it up for an upgrade. I just need to keep going, line my pocket (and with a few weedle and rats too due to spare candy) and roll with the lucky egg plan.

Re: Pokémon Go
I haven't encountered any errors out of the ordinary, again except for the slightly longer time it takes to get into the game/login now.
5 5km eggs for me today. Krabby/Sandshrew/Machop/Bellsprout/Vulpix. Of those, none of them I'm keeping because I have others that appraised far better. It's better for the candy now anyway. As a result of all the activity, my dust is now over 100K!
I got an Exeggcute the other day that I'm super excited about. Stats are NEAR perfect, 15/15/14 or something like that. With the right moveset I hope to have as good an Exeggutor as I can possibly have. I also caught a 670 Eevee yesterday that will do good too. I also evolved a Dodrio that came from an egg that had stats as good as that Exeggcute, and it's got the best charge move for it, Drill Peck.
My Pikachu picked up a few candies too. I noticed the circle where the buddy is fills up with the progress it has to a new candy.

Re: Pokémon Go
Circle is animated too as it will do what the little guy does on your character screen.
I don't see how walking up candy is giving you more dust.
I just think they need to tweak it still, they won't I'm sure, but they're pretty stingy on the candy but no where near as bad on the coin. I did some reading up on that, it's not a 21 hour rule persay, but a be on X at the 21 hour mark clock. Say you cash out at 10PM tonight. 21 hours later is 7PM. If you wait until 6PM and lock down 10 gyms you'll get 100 coin despite the fact you punched some poor bastard out of it who could have been there for 20 hours. But let's say you pass out, wake up 4 hours later and collect, since the 21 hours expired 5 gyms got taken...you don't get 100 coin, you get 50. It annoyingly really forces you to clock watch the game and realize it falls back 3 hours every time which is very inconvenient. I ended up bagging 10 coins yesterday as I picked off an obscure-ish gym and held it the couple hours until the rollover hit.
Speaking of which my arcanine oddly still is in that gym, but I don't see it holding that another 9hrs 27min to get paid again.

Re: Pokémon Go
I got my 2 gym bonus again this morning! The flagpole survived the night and is still at level 7 with no prestige changes.
About the clock, that is correct, it is 21 hours (not 20 as I may have said earlier) from the time you collected on the previous day. Whatever gyms you have when you collect again, be it right on the 21 hour mark or even if you wait a few more hours, is what you get. That's why I made sure to get it right at the time it was available today.
The egg hatches (5) got me a lot of dust yesterday. I noticed that I went over 100K and a lot of people have almost three times what I have, because as of right now wild Pokémon's CP cap out at level 30, which is the best time to start seriously powering them up after that point because then the CP arc is only affected by the trainer's level up to 40.

Re: Pokémon Go
I wish I had better stuff or less active spots around here to farm for coins. I'd just be happy with around 200 of them so I could boost my inventory size a bit. I really don't care to squat on over 250 pokemon, but the item limit blows. According to my shield I somehow am now at 6h 15m until I can cash in again at that one. Very weird. My arcanine either has some buddies there now or it's very confusing to people to have a fire dog with Bite(dark) and Bulldoze(ground) so they take in the wrong type and get hit hard.
EDIT: I turned jiggly into WigglyTuff, came out with a pretty high CP, got into my top 10. I also took all my high 500 eevees, ranked them...oddly 3 in a row were jolteon with the same dumb moves, all crap so I erased them. I'm only harvesting pidgey and a few weedle due to candy for the lucky egg abuse. It blows my mind but I still hold that dumb gym and it's in a fairly high traffic stripmall near the original 'main street' for a very old area called middletown. How it is held is beyond me unless that screwball dark/ground set my arcanine has with its HP is throwing people for a loop trying to remove it. It has easily been in there about a day now, another 2hrs-ish to another 10coin if I luck into that.

Re: Pokémon Go
In my gym experiences, the ones I'm in that last a long time do so because:
1) Hard to get to/not a popular location. Case in point, the gym that Flareon is in right now is on a long 2 lane road with a thin strip right in front of the marina for parking. Unless you got a boat, it might be difficult to park there to battle, but walking is always an option.
2) It's a high level. I've never seen the flagpole gym last over 24 hours in many cases. This one has, because it's Level 7 with the following Pokémon:
Seaking
Victribell
Vaporeon
Exeggutor <--- mine
Arcanine
Vaporeon
Arcanine
3) The type of Pokémon inside. This only applies to a gym at level 3 or 4 from my experience. For example, I won't waste my time with gyms that have 3 defenders over 2000CP. This week I have been able to topple solo Exeggutors over 2000 but that's all I would touch for now unless there were maybe just 1 or 2 in there, because on a Level 3 gym with 6000 prestige, you'll have to battle 3 times, with each battle knocking out one Pokémon and taking the gym down a level. Plus I feel that certain Pokémon have a prestige or reputation about them. Arcanine, Gyarados, Lapras, Dragonite, any of those and I take those gyms very seriously.
So I went ahead and ordered one of those Pokémon Go Plus devices because somehow they arrived back in stock over at Amazon. I really hope my phone will support this, but at least I know I paid the suggested price and not a crazy eBay markup and Amazon's return policy is super easy if need be.
Finally, look for update 0.37.1 / 1.7.1 on your devices soon, it fixes a few stability issues. I haven't gotten it yet.

Re: Pokémon Go
Well I'll explain this. Louisville used to like 20 years ago just be downtown, then metro became all of that but one area in the north east of the county. Middletown is a spot that runs along and away from a strip of US60 a major cross multi-states road US Hwy. NO more than 200yds south of it paralleling is old Main Street, has a bunch of old shops and some other fluff. It's a 15mph strip, so you can roll it and it has over a 1/4mi or so a dozen pokestops and a few gyms with churches and stuff. At the far east end of those stops it breaks into a Y kind of, the gym is on that break to the left of it (supposedly a church but geo-f'd up planted on an empty shop across the street.) There's a high school very near there and an elementary school, DQ and other restaurants, hipster crap, pottery play time, and other consignment antique shops. That's why I 'm shocked it lasted.
And that said, it still is in there. Wife went by for the supplies, found what I took expanded into a Lv6 or 7 gym, very solid selection of critters in there, and she thinks I was higher up on the list with my 1575 arcanine. She thinks maybe if someone doesn't do a concentrated beat down with yellow/blue it could last awhile. As it stands now I've been in there I guess 24+hours now.
I read up on Pokemon Go Plus, I mean it has functionalty but doesn't look all that interesting or useful. You still need to fire up the game, load it, and get the pokemon. Sure it can snatch items with a tap, but other than that, it seems like a useless extra step.
