working on a write-up for my site about The Secret Of Monkey Island and it's driving me nuts trying to think of a magazine that I had back in the day w/ that game on the cover. Google Image Search has come up short. I cannot figure out what gaming mag it was, but I remember it being Monkey Island art on a mostly white background on the magazine cover.

Funny you say that. I was looking at Clash at Demonhead carts on eBay the other night and could have sworn that the artwork was different when I was a kid. Turns out I was thinking of the Nintendo Power feature:

well even if I have the picture in my head wrong, I can't seem to find ANY magazine with a Monkey Island feature on it from the early 90's...

It's 9/9, that means it's the Dreamcast's 17th birthday, in the USA anyway.

Kinda surprised I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere on this site today. Racketboy used to be crazy about a Dreamcast. Now Racketboy is crazy about Steam and digital PC games. Oh well. I still have my Dreamy, it's currently boxed up in a closet though. I've had a lot of fun with it, and I plan to have a lot more. (When I move it will be setup for play again in the new dork cave.) Happy birthday Dreamcast.

And keep on thinking.

My passion for the Dreamcast was one of the reasons I first came here, but for me it was the dive into Nintendo's handheld offerings as well as the shmup fans that kept me here. Digital distribution came later.

Maybe in 3 years when the DC has an anniversary ending in 0, much like the SNES hit one ending in 5 this year, will people talk about it again

For those familiar with North & South, what would you consider "beating" the game? Tonight I ran a campaign as the South, and managed to beat the North, in less than three months. A rather sound victory, and I got a "congratulations you won" cinematic. But I didn't see any credits. And I don't know how you would see credits in this game. It doesn't have a campaign mode that I can find. You can only fight a war against the computer, or another human player, and that's that. So did I beat the game? Or am I missing something here?

There are no credits. I've beaten it in all the possible configurations, pretty much. Player & CPU levels 1-3, scenarios on, different time periods. As long as your side wins it's a clear for me. But it's a really fun game that keeps everything simple, which I appreciate.

a few days ago, the team in the office had a gamenight. i gave an interest check prior if they're game for some retro fun and of course they were game. i brought the stuff but sadly it was just snubbed as they all ended up playing a certain FPS. i guess without nostalgia, people wouldnt really be game for some vintage gaming.
i shouldnt be bothered, but it rather feels sad to feel like im the only person in our area who has any passion for classic gaming. :(

So I've spent the past couple of hours playing WWE 2k16, and Jesus Christ, this game's customization feature is amazing. I haven't even actually wrestled; I've just spent like two hours making two characters.

Here's my first dude's facial construction

And here's his full costume (before I added the horns and glasses)

And here's my lady (who's the queen of some planet where warrior women make untoward advances on the planet's men)

I had no idea video games had medicinal properties. I saw this at the local retro store today with the pricier titles.
