Re: Random Gaming Thoughts

Stare into her eyes. Ruminate upon the fate which brought her to this moment. What is her future? What was her past? Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what the hell your publisher was even thinking. I can not put that box art in my shopping cart. In my living room on the coffee table that face will haunt my soul. Who the hell can even sleep with that in the house? Be like holy shit it's 3AM and SHE'S TALKING TO ME. Sonny boy get my shiny pants on WE'VE GOT TO GO

Early creepy CGI, I choose you!
(Yeah, that's terrible.)
Reminds me for whatever reason of this:

What is the greatest version of Puzzle Bobble? I recall the SNES one being amazing.

Interactive adventure games?
Today I found this was a thing in the PS1's early days. After watching it, it plays more like an arcade laserdisc title from the 80s.

Neo Geo of course!Xeogred wrote:What is the greatest version of Puzzle Bobble? I recall the SNES one being amazing.
Speaking of bad box art, I always hated this one:

Japanese version is pretty hokey but still looks 100 times better:

I don't really mind old polygons, like PS1 era polygons, for me that stuff has aged with some level of nostalgia. But crappy CGI renders from the early nineties... I just loathe that stuff. Even back then, I thought that style of art looked terrible. It hasn't aged with any grace since.Sarge wrote:Early creepy CGI, I choose you!

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yep, pretty much. I didn't think it was too bad with stuff that was not as realistic, like Nintendo's handling of Super Mario RPG or Donkey Kong Country, but that weird, plastic, doll-like look for actual people was awful. As an artist, I thought it looked terrible.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
As far as Puzzle Bobble goes, I've played enough of PB2/Again to swear off it forever (it seems to be a popular competitive choice in tournaments I participate in), and I even played the American F3 hardware "Cybercore" version which took all the Bubble Bobble characters out.
But one arcade years ago imported Puzzle Bobble 3 and I was hooked. Just seeing Sonic Blast Man in the game was awesome enough.
