Ya know, I used to name RPG characters after people I knew. But then I'd load up a save file years later and see the name of my 7th grade crush or whatever and was like uuuuugggghhhhhh..........

Exhum - Male Halfling Thief. He'd stick his own mother for a quarter...and then apologize because he's a good guy.

Pretty funny you made me a halfling, I'm only 5'6" in real life so it's accurate.

I tend to name my RPG characters after my own family members and pets, with my own name as the protagonist. This usually works out well, and makes me care more about the party members. Except one time the character I named my daughter after, ended up becoming the main love interest for the protagonist.

The 7th Saga

I went back to Bonro, tracked down Gain, and got my world map. Then I spent some time grinding outside Zellis for cold hard cash to afford the best equipment. I ended up at Level 15, so I figured I'd start propositioning other rune seekers to join my party. Well I guess I've got some stank ass breath 'cause nobody wants to join me. I've been mostly trying to get Esuna, 'cause she's supposed to have healing spells and my demon dude does not. But Esuna is demon racist I suppose. So nobody wants to join me, and a few just want to fight me. The ones I try fighting completely kick my ass, as their stats seem double that of my own. I've about had it with everybody's shit, and I'm about to just escort Brantu to Melenam and find this "treasure" everyone keeps talking about. Definitely having a good time with this one!

EverGrace

After three and a half hours with this, I'm done for now. At first I was legit enjoying the experience, but the further I get into it, the more apparent the bad game design is. EverGrace retains some of the stuff I love about FromSoftware dungeon crawlers, such as kooky monster designs, off kilter environs, and an eclectic OST. But there are some serious game design flaws that really suck the fun out for me. I don't want to rant for four paragraphs explaining what all of those are. Suffice it to say that this a 5/10 experience, and I've just got better stuff to play. Love me some FromSoftware, but they can't all be jams.

In lieu of putting EverGrace away, tonight I'm either gonna start playing Baroque or Crimson Tears instead.

You can go through the game solo. Only "advantage" is that you don't have to split XP.

I started The Witcher last night. Pretty good game so far. Not a fan of the fetch quests sending me from one corner of the area to the other and back and forth (I'm only a few hours in, mind you), but the story is compelling enough, and the combat is enjoyable even if a bit different than I'm used to.

I find it the most fun to name these guys after folks on here. That way when you die, I get to laugh at you. Plus you all seem far more entertained by the stories of what you did, so I like to do this for entertainment's sake.

For instance, since Ack and Bone are in the front row, they're doing the bulk of the hard work right now fighting monsters. Meanwhile Noise and Exhum sit in the back and don't fight, but they have their benefits. Exhum has been a great pack mule who carries all the gear necessary to handle puzzles, traps, and locked doors. It's not glamorous, but it is absolutely critical, so he gets a pass on not wanting to fight.

Noise is still useless though, the pooftah.

Hey, you know who made a great spellcaster? Key-Glyph in Might & Magic III. I miss her awesome power.

I'm playing the PC release via DOSBox...which is interesting. I have to look up the answers to the copy protection quizzes.

That said, this is another case of the game counting to my SNES RPGs too, because the only changes between the PC and SNES version were control modifications and the removal of the copy protection stuff. Just like M&M3, they're effectively the same game. I could have avoided the copy protection bit by playing the SNES port I suppose, but the other benefit of playing it this way is that I can port the party into Eye of the Beholder 2 when I finish, and then later into Eye of the Beholder 3 if I feel so inclined.
