Sarge wrote:Watched your Crystalis vid. Nice breakdown! A word of advice: just don't bother with normal sword attacks. It's far too difficult to draw a bead on your opponent. Better to stick with charge shots entirely and manage them from afar. Also, keep that healing spell on! It will save you on countless occasions.
Thanks Sarge. Yeah that's good advice, I was just too impatient for that, I always gotta keep moving in action RPGs
Sarge wrote:Have you given Willow a shot? It's another great action-RPG on NES. It's also a fantastic-looking game. It really doesn't have a whole lot to do with the movie, so I'm guessing they repurposed the game to fit the license somewhere along the way.
Have not played it or heard of it outside of the Daria Plays video, I'll have to look at it one of these days

Hey man, there are actually two movies based on the Zeiram franchise, Zeiram(1991) and Zeiram 2(1994). They're both worth tracking down along with the OVA, which I was a big fan of when I first saw it around 2001 or so. You should definitely look into them if you haven't seen them yet.

It's also interesting to note that the guy who invented the Zeiram franchise, Keita Amemiya, also came up with the character designs for Hagane.

Crystalis look awesome. I like how fast the character moves. I can't play a lot of NES games because of how sloooooow you move. Like FF1, I played the PS1 remake a few times. I could never get far in the NES version though just because of how slow you walk around (not to mention how slow the battles are).

Yeah, this video inspired me to play Crystalis soon.

Crystalis is definitely one of the best on NES, but that might be bias on my part considering it was the third game I owned on the console. (After Kung Fu and Metal Gear)

Been enjoying all of these. And Hard Corps is indeed all that it implies in its title. Rough, rough stuff. I honestly think I could sit down and eventually get through it, but I'll be darned if I feel like it right now. :P (I figure if I could get through Holy Diver and Battletoads, all bets are off!)

Oh how I hate how expensive Super Famicom platformers are. Made the mistake of looking at Hyper Iria on eBay the other night......

On the flipside, there are plenty of stellar Japan-only RPGs that are <$10.

And then there's the ones that are about the same price but came to the states and is just plain smarter to buy and apply patches too XD
