I have not. I was too cool for cartoons at the time.

Noise, check out the first Batman:TAS movie Mask of the Phantasm, if you haven't. It's one of the best Batman movies pre-Nolan. I actually watched Batman Returns the other weekend, and then shortly thereafter rewatched Mask of the Phantasm, and it's surprising how much more mature the latter is in terms of storytelling.

The first Batman Beyond movie, Return of the Joker, is pretty solid too.

The other animated movies may be as well, but I don't think I've seen them.

thanks for the heads up. Killing Joke is the only one I've seen so far. I do have Gothan Knight and Year One on my shelf though. I'm also really interested in seeing Assault On Arkham.

Ah, I have seen some of the recent ones. I was thinking more of the Animated Series movies. Assault on Arkham is good. More logically constructed than the live action Suicide Squad movie at any rate. I've also seen the Dark Knight Returns adaptation, which is pretty close to the comic.

Mask of the Phantasm rolls in some TAS-version Year One stuff. It came along fairly early in the series, and is pretty stand-alone.

I'd actually take Mask, TAS, Red Hood, and the Burton movies over Nolan Batman (aka Gotham City Police Drama). And the first Arkham Asylum game was fantastic. To me Kevin Conroy is Batman and Mark Hamill is the Joker.

I'm not even much of a Tim Burton fan, but love those two movies and rewatched them last year. I thought they held up really well. I just don't really care for what Nolan did with the series. I won't say they were bad, but I never feel compelled to rewatch them. I know people are mixed on Batman vs Superman, but I think I already like Ben Affleck's Batman more than Christian Bale.

Just want to Echo that I love Batman the Animated Series. At some point in the early 2000s, Cartoon Network got the right to syndicate BATS in their Toonami lineup. In related promos, they called BATS "the greatest animated series of all time." Personally, I think there's plenty of healthy competition for that title, but BATS is certainly in the running.

There's a lot of truth here. You're a good man, Xero.

I just marathoned all of The Night Manager yesterday, with Tom Huddleston and Hugh Laurie. It is based on a book by John le Carre, and it definitely feels like his work. If you enjoy spy thriller-type shows about modern espionage, I suggest checking it out. It is only six episodes, so it is pretty brief.
