Oh man, this is like choosing my favorite child. The world design of a game is sometimes capable of making or breaking the experience for me. Yet ironically, I have trouble picking a favorite.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you Noise and say that The Witcher 3 is definitely one of my favorites. I love the entire Witcher world, from books to all three games. Obviously 3 is the only open world game in the series, but Witcher 1 had some really big area's too. To me, the Witcher is one of the few game series that get's dark fantasy right. Most games feel like they're trying too hard and just come off cliche, or they do the opposite and simply add extra blood into a regular fantasy world and I have to wonder "How is this dark?"
BogusMeatFactory wrote:Myst Online: URU Live - There is no video game world with the depth and history quite like the Myst series. Don't understand why? Come talk to me.
Can't say I've played Uru specifically, but the world of the Myst games is incredible. Very rich with detail, and they all feel very lived-in.

Fallout New Vegas is another great one. Feels like an honest idea of what post apocalyptic life might be like. I'm not talking about all the mutated monsters, sci-fi weaponry, and slave empires. But the day to day lives of regular people, like the citizens of Goodsprings or Primm, feels very thought through and that's impressive to me. Again, lots of detail in that world.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

Just picked up the XB1 port of State of Decay. It's definitely one of my favorite open world zombie apocalypse games have it on 360, PC, and XB1 now. Really looking forward to State of Decay 2 since it's supposed to be implementing co-op.

Is there a launch date yet on it? Loved the first one, played through twice!

I own it on GOG, it's not a problem of finding it. I've just never gotten around to it I guess.

Does Uru have anything to do with the plot of the other Myst games?

It has EVERYTHING to do with the series. I do recommend playing the free uru because it has everything tge retail game does, but is an mmo with some puzzles reworked to incorporate multiple players and new ages and the open source platform.

The Guild of Writers are working on making fan ages and implementing the unreleased ages Cyan was working on before the game shut down commercially.

Awesome it's a game I only play with my wife, sometimes we have good nights and others we fight!

Don't give up in this one it's takes a bit to get going, definitely work on gathering and building your crafting skills with each person also picking up a specialist skill to contribute to the team. Fully destroying a resource will net you bonus material, any items you don't need scrap them into precious materials such as faucets can be scrapped into metal for bullets for example. Don't put campfire near your safe zone it will attract the zombies, L2 is your secondary function for certain items such as collecting water into jars or building up your defenses instead of gathering them. Make a bedroll so you spawn there when you die, if you die you can pick up your backpack to regain your items, but if you die you lose what's in your active toolbar. There's no easy way to trade items unfortunately but you can drop it for others to pick up. The desert has juicy cactus but you dehydrate easy, I'd suggest trying to go north towards snow which can make water but you would need the right gear from getting cold. There's a lot but that's the magic of this game!
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I really enjoy this game as well. But some of the issues it has hold it back. Looking forward to seeing what they can do with the sequel.
