Heh, been a long time since I watched the Amazing Screw-On Head pilot. I really wish Sci-Fi Channel had picked it up. But then there are a lot of things I wish Sci-Fi had done differently over the years...or as they call themselves now, Syfy, which apparently has something to do with syphilis in Polish.

You know what the kiss of death is for me as far as horror movies goes it's syfy originals I don't even need to watch a trailer to know it will have shit CGI, cardboard acting, and a poorly written plot with a cliche ending.

I freaking loathe CGI in straight to TV movies. I don't care how bad it looks use practical effects wherever possible at least those can come off as campy if done poorly. Piss poor CGI just screams we are cheap and don't care.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Whichever genius at Comcast or NBCUniversal who changed the name to "Syfy" is probably the same rhodes scholar who changed the sleuth channel to "cloo".

You mean Bonnie Hammer?

I get why they changed the names to those terms(for copyright purposes), but I don't support them.

Never heard of her before now. A cursory google search indicates that she's done a lot of good work in the TV industry.

She's the chairperson of NBCUniversal Cable and was previously the president of Sci-Fi(and USA) during the rebranding in the early 2000s. She helped usher in both the original programming series as well as the Sci-Fi Originals film line and brought wrestling to the network. She then became head of NBCUniversal networks Cloo, Chiller, and Universal HD in 2008 as well as E!, G4, and Wilshire Studios in 2011 and Esquire in 2013. The rebrandings of Syfy and Cloo could not go forward without her say so.

In short, all the things that you both love and hate about Sci-Fi Channel to Syfy since 2000 have been under her watch.

Well...a more nuanced viewpoint of her track record indicated that she has made a number of decisions that I like and a number that I dislike. So I really have no strong feeling about her one way or another now.

Darn it, reality! Stop making it hard to hate random strangers.

Since Exhuminator posted an image from this sketch in the spirit animal thread, I thought I would post a link to the full routine here for anyone who hasn't seen Dhalsim applying for the Street Fighter II job.

Here's another funny short one with Kumail Nanjiani. This time he talks about Call of Duty from his Pakistani perspective.
