Fun and Unique Cooperative Games

Post by spiritplx »

I have been in search for a list of great cooperative (multiplayer, but not competitive multiplayer) games to play.

So far, the best I have found is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_co ... ideo_games

While this list is a great start, it does not seem to be complete, and seems to list the obvious choices. I am looking for the unique and possibly obscure co-op titles that meet the following criteria:
  • 2-4 Players
5th Generation Consoles or older (possibly 6th if the game is extremely unique)
    Not a First Person Shooter
Not on the list above (unless it is a title that is likely to be overlooked)
PC games that are from 1998 or older
Again, I would prefer games that are unique, but I can't pass up on games that are just great fun.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has a fun co-op mode in it.This mode is available in certain areas in the game, you play it until someone dies. This mode is fun when you put in multiple codes! I can't think of other games besides whats on the list.
Systems: Sega Dreamcast(x2), Sega Genesis(x2), Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Genmobile (portable Genesis), FC Twin, PSX, PS2(x2), GBA, SP, Xbox 360, N64, Showcase Arcade

Exhausted topic, - example - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_co ... ative_play
but OK
Some that come to mind:
Radiant Silvergun - Saturn
Kunio-kun (river city ransom) - all systems I think
Guardian Heroes - Saturn GBA
Army of Two - 360 ps3
Raiden III - Arcade PS2
Alien Homonid - PS2 360
Forgotten Worlds - arc gen tg16

Hmm not really unique - Shmups & beat-em ups. They were the ones I had the most fun with tho.
edit: ahh drunk. didn't even read the post....well I stand by my choices.

Why do pc titles have to be that old? I mean surely you have better pcs than 450mhz with 128megs of ram and a voodoo 3. Even if you buy an atom based netbook (EEE, Mini9, etc) you should be able to play most of this style of game up to 2002/3 - and some from much later.

But to fit your description:
Jazz Jackrabbit 2 - its like sonic meets megaman and four player (single pc or multiple - max of 2 players per keyboard)
I know it was on the list but I went many years without giving it a chance - until a couple weeks go.
