I've never heard of these before, and I'm about to be buying assloads of blinds for a new house. Can you provide a link where you bought them, or what brand?MrPopo wrote:I've got good blinds for my bedroom now; they are accordion fold blinds that have a layer of foil on the inside to make them opaque. PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: What's your gaming schedule like?
This is actually a reason why sometimes I'm not up for gaming on workdays when I come home and would rather just watch stuff and do some idle nonsense. Because when I game, I want to go for hours on end. I'd wager I probably get like 8 or more hours per weekend day if I'm really digging something.Exhuminator wrote:Man some of you guys are super hardcore. I tend to burn out after 3 hours, playing 4 hours straight I get serious gaming fatigue, and just have to do something else. Now, I'm not knocking anybody who can play 8-12 hours straight or what have you, I used to be able to do that. It just doesn't work for me these days, for varying reasons. But I can respect the hardcore nature of it definitely.
And yes, if you've got light problems from a window, a blackout curtain is the ticket. They are relatively cheap and do a better job than any blinds I've ever seen.
I've also noticed I think because gaming is more physically active and engaging, I have a harder time sleeping right after gaming, rather than watching stuff or whatever. Anyone else get that?

Also the blue light stimulates your brain, effectively waking your body up. That's why they tell you to eliminate all screen time at least an hour before bed. Of course, I never listen, insisting on playing my Vita or 3DS while I lie in bed before I go to sleep, but that's probably why I have mild insomnia symptoms.Xeogred wrote:This is actually a reason why sometimes I'm not up for gaming on workdays when I come home and would rather just watch stuff and do some idle nonsense. Yeah some nights I feel too tired to think, so that is when I watch something instead of gaming.

Re: What's your gaming schedule like?
Now that I'm re-addicted to WoW my schedule on nights I don't have anything else planned is generally "Wake up around 4-5 pm, shower, maybe eat, play WoW until I leave for work around 11pm"
Tuesdays are out, I have a standing D&D night on Tuesdays. Once a week (usually Mondays, but it varies) I hang out with my dad, so I don't play that night. And usually at least once a week I'm working either overtime or a shift swap so I'm not able to play that night, but that varies wildly (some weeks not at all, some weeks 3-4 nights).
Before I got back on the addiction, my gaming would be maybe 30-45 minutes fiddling around with my cabinets in the evening at some time.
My consoles really have not gotten love in a while.

I got them through a local company but I did a quick look on Home Depot and these are the sort of thing I got:Exhuminator wrote:I've never heard of these before, and I'm about to be buying assloads of blinds for a new house. Re: What's your gaming schedule like?
When I have no school, I normally start with derping around for a while (aka do non-productive and not fun things on the internet). If I don't have any chores and I have the motivation, I'll play a game for about 1-3 hours at a time. Then a break and I kind of cycle between stuff I need to do, more game time, and not doing anything because I feel bad that day.
Sometimes I play more hours in a single sitting, but that's pretty rare. I don't normally have the energy or willpower to do much more than 1-3 hrs in one sitting.
When school comes around, it probably won't be too much different. The only change I guess will be fewer chances to play games because of the classes, homework, and added stress.

Re: What's your gaming schedule like?
I typically game late at night. I'm an owl, so no matter what my day has been like I achieve crystal clarity at about 11 PM. That hour is also typically when my spouse goes to bed, so with no other compelling reason to stay upstairs on the couch, I descend into my subterranean retro lair. Sometimes I descend earlier after dinner if Nathaniel has some non-Emily-friendly television shows in his queue that he's dying to watch.
It is rare for my gaming sessions last for fewer than two hours. If they do, it's because I'm sick, exhausted, or interrupted. I should really time myself to get some empirical data, but I'd guess that my average gaming session is around 3 hours. I think I fairly regularly hit 5 hours if I get started early enough or get obsessively determined.
I've definitely spent entire days at a game, but that's with breaks, and is fairly rare for a multitude of reasons.

I only pray that I can bachelor as hard as Popo Sensei when I reach that ageMrPopo wrote:I get home from work pretty consistently at 6:30. I'll basically game from then til 11, and somewhere in there I eat dinner. It depends on what the food situation is. For example, this week I'm eating leftover chicken tikka masala I made on Monday, so I get my rice cooker going at 6:30 while I play, then after the rice is done I'll heat up the chicken at some point, depending on where I am at that point. If I'm making some boxed mac & cheese or a frozen dinner I'll probably eat closer to 10. And if I'm making something from scratch (like I did Monday) then I'll start by cooking and won't get in gaming until later.
Weekend is wake up, game, and I usually catch a movie around 10am on Saturday (depends on start time) since the theater by me serves food. So I do lunch and keep up with movies. Otherwise weekends are basically solid gaming.
But really though, I usually play games more like Lauren, where I can only usually keep my focus for a few hours. Unless I'm SUPER into something, which doesn't happen too frequently, I usually intersperse gaming with derping on the computer for an hour or two. Then eating fits in there somewhere (it's such a chore :/ ).
