Dungeon crawlers...
Re: Dungeon crawlers...
Too bad you don't accept Dreamcast games; Record of Lodoss War was actually a pretty decent Diablo clone.

Gauntlet is 4 player.
And for pc titles, you can get plenty of old dos crawlers that required 486s or there about (early 90s pcs).

Shoot, check out the old Ultimas, or even better, Castle of the Winds, easily one of my favorite dungeon crawlers from two decades ago.fastbilly1 wrote:Gauntlet is 4 player.

If you can browse the internet, you can play Ultima Underworld and the old Wizardry gamesMrEco wrote:sakicfan84 wrote:Why no PC games? You need to get on the PC and play the two Ultima Underworld games and the later games in the Wizardry series. Search around some abandonware sites and get DOSbox and you're good to go. If you don't mind not having very modern graphics, they are some amazing games. There's a whole slew of great dungeon crawlers on the PC, much more so than on consoles.
I don't have a very powerful computer when it comes to gaming. At all.

The aforementioned games were built during the DOS era. I'm pretty sure you can handle them.MrEco wrote:sakicfan84 wrote:Why no PC games? Lol, yes I'm sure I could handle a DOS game, I'm just not sure if it's worth the trouble of downloading DOSbox(or whatever it's called).

Dosbox is remarkably simple now. You can even configure it to auto open the directory your games are stored in so all you have to do is type the name .exe and your good. I got it playing the old Super Solvers games in a matter of minutes after downloading it.

Ultima Underworld is a classic, really should be worth the trouble of fiddling with DOSBox.
It is also rather relevant in the history of games, I think I'm correct in saying it's the first 3D RPG (the other FP perspective RPGs before you moved block by block).
Ivo.

I've had a lot of fun with Dark Stone and got addicted to Diablo 1&2 for months on end when they came out.
A good wizardry-like one for DS is Etrian Odyssey. I haven't beat the first one enough to consider starting the 2nd episode, but I hear #2 is even better. Definitely give it a go. You'll love it!
I actually prefer the oldschool top-down Roguelikes still. I will always love Ragnarok/Valhalla for dos. It's one game that constantly defeats me despite how much time I put into it and even understanding it's mechanics doesn't make it easy. Here's a couple newer actively updated roguelikes I've been messing around with the last couple of years.
Powder for ALL systems (gba , psp and ds included):

Elona for windows:

Izuna for DS <- (haven't really given it enough time to comment)
