Have you also tried making a copy of your save file, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and trying all three then?

I didn't make a copy because it was in the correct folder. But I did reinstall (the huge fucking) game and tried all 3 and still nothing. I'm kicking chairs man. You know how I am about replaying story games. I was 6 hours in a this point - and that's a week's worth of progress. That's basically saying "you'll have to spend the next week doing over what you did LAST week." I'm so pissed. It's like starting a 1,000 page novel and after 100 pages being told "eh, start from the beginning." My brain just hates that sort of repetition of story. It bores me to tears. :x

Well, sorry chief. The other thing I can think to try is porting over a save to a version installed on a PC running your old OS. Maybe go play something else for a little while to help you relax in the meantime. What is next on your list?

problem is - THIS IS my old OS. All I did was a clean install to clean up some driver conflicts.

But yeah, I'll need a breather. Way too annoyed right now.

Copy the saves somewhere, start a new campaign and immediately save, then copy the files back overwriting the save you just made?

got my Witcher 3 saves restored! For some reason even though the game is installed on D drive, it was now looking for saves on the C drive. Shrug. At least I figured it out.

Still picking away at PSO, but I've also started...

Yeah, not necessary at all. Especially since I finished the NES version earlier in the year (finally!). But there's something intriguing about these disk games.

Well, I have picked my next game to play: Eye of the Beholder. I meant to beat this some time back when it was being played as a group, but unfortunately I did not get beyond the second floor. Today I created a party and went ahead and rushed through the first floor, so I am already on my way. Here is the party so far:

Ack - Male Human Warrior. His special powers include hitting things really hard and sporting a sexy mustache.
Bone - Male Human Paladin. He'll mess you up...for the Lord.
Exhum - Male Halfling Thief. He'd stick his own mother for a quarter...and then apologize because he's a good guy.
Noise - Male Elf Mage. Because no party is complete without a pooftah.
