Random Gaming Thoughts
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I guess it's a next logical step. You can already do PSNow on Sony TVs and devices, not just on PS4, and you can already do Remote Play from PS4 to PC.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
well, I'd much prefer that you could BUY the games rather than rent/subscribe. And I'd be much happier of PS1/2/4/P games were offered as well (and that is supposedly possible for the future).
But there's at least some cool stuff on the list so far. I'd hope that the experiment would lead to something a little better implemented as far as accounts/ownership of titles go.
Also, I wonder if you can do online multiplayer w/ these games? (Probably not).

Dude. Dude. Get on PSIV. It's great. Different from the rest of the series. It feels much more like a SNES/FFIV style of JRPG, while still retaining that unique Sega quirkiness. The music and graphics - especially the anime stills - are absolutely phenomenal.noiseredux wrote:^I love Phantasy Star in general, and am sad to say I haven't played IV yet.![]()
RGT: I totally forgot I have a Pico in my basement. Is that thing worth anything?
A Pico is worth like $50. Cool system, doesn't deserve to live in your basement.
Ah yes, I had to do this a couple of years ago. Took maybe 4 trips on my old Oldsmobile. Setting up my new game room took forever. I probably picked away at things for about six weeks. Enjoy some handheld gaming in the time being.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I moved my video game collection from my old house to my new house this morning. I drove my wife's Toyota Highlander, and even putting the back seats down, it took me two trips to move everything out....I also still have several large boxes full of games in storage. On the one hand, having that many games is kind of ridiculous. On the other hand, it is kind of awesome, and I am smiling just thinking about them.
I know your pain. Once I went to play Kaboom! on the 2600 and the controls wouldn't work. Turns out I needed those accursed paddles! Took me about ten minutes to find them in the mess of my controllers drawers.Xeogred wrote:First experience of pre-loading a Steam game is terrible.
Had to wait until 11:00am for it to unlock??? A friend of mine texted me a picture of him with a PS4 copy. I could be playing it by now. Now it has to update 2 gigs worth and the network is being slow. Looks like it's another couple hours of waiting.
I took a day off for this?
Seriously though..... "pre-loading"?????

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I think PSIV was on my Summer Gaming list that I never finalized. Maybe I'll do a Winter gaming list. But probably not as I tend to use Nov/Dec to try to cram in as many games of the year that I had meant to play before the year ends.

It is a great idea in theory. It lets you download the lionshare of a game before the release date. And since PC games are now growing to 40+gigs it helps alot.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Seriously though..... "pre-loading"?????

Yeah, preloading is a great thing. Console games are starting to get in on it, too, since some console games are getting bigger than PC games (which I don't understand at all, but whatevs).fastbilly1 wrote:It is a great idea in theory. Oh snap, you're probably right. Blast Processing is great, but it does add a lot of gigabytes you gotta chug.noiseredux wrote:I think it's the Blast Processing.ElkinFencer10 wrote:some console games are getting bigger than PC games (which I don't understand at all, but whatevs).

Definitely some that are comparable. Are there ones where the console version is actually larger? For a while, the PC versions would get a lot bigger due to HD texture packs and the like. Console games may be getting inflated due to using different compression for some assets.ElkinFencer10 wrote:Console games are starting to get in on it, too, since some console games are getting bigger than PC games (which I don't understand at all, but whatevs).
A (possible) example for that is FFXIII. The original JP PS3 release is about 40GB, about 33GB of which is for cutscenes and voice. The 360 release, meanwhile, is about 18GB total, featuring far more compressed assets. When the PC version released, the total install size was 50GB, but that was due to dual audio - the Japanese and English assets, respectively, represent about 20GB of that each.
Presumably, the PS3 version is so inflated because they encoded things to Blu-ray spec, which might be a trend continued today.
