I started Tales of Eternia today. I didn't wanna pay a FORTUNE for the American version, and even considered emulating it, but when I saw that I could get the Japanese version for like 8 bucks, I jumped at the chance. I'm understanding the text of the story fairly well so far, but all of the skits are only audio, which I'm much slower at understanding. It really sucks because the skits are mah favorite part ;A;

Other than that, it's pretty fun so far. The nuance and depth to how you can program your AI teammates is actually really surprising for a game that old.

I'll be curious on your updates on this one.

My preliminary survey of the land reveals that this game is HARD. It's possible I'm just not used to the 2D battle system, as this is the first 2D Tales game I've played, but the normal enemies on the world map can kill you REALLY quickly. You've really gotta be on your toes with your blocking to make sure you just stay alive for one random encounter. I'm not sure if the US release re-balanced things to be easier or something, but the Japanese version is quite hard so far.

PS1. It has a surprising amount of voice acting for a PS1 game, to be honest, and it's very pretty. That might be why it's 3 CD's though.

More seriously, I'm sorry to hear. Was there a data error or something? Do the files still exist on your PC (or in Steam)?

it's the GOG version. I did a clean install of Win 10 (on C:) and all my games/data is on D: so that should be fine. The saves still exist, yet the game refuses to see them. I made sure that the folder is not read-only just in case. But nothing. Googling finds that many folks have the same issue after an OS upgrade... the saves just no longer are recognized. I'm really upset.

Are you only booting the game through Galaxy, through a shortcut, or through the .exe in the actual folder?
