I mad.

I've been a diehard fan since 1998 basically. So this is like taking a fat dump in my favorite cereal.

I started to watch the trailer and said, "wut" when it got to the wormhole thing. Man, it's like bad fan fiction.

alright so I finally started up Phantom Pain. Took me an hour and 20 mins to get through "Chapter 0." I tried playing with a controller initially - the MGS games being "console" titles and all. But ultimately I found using kb/m far better suited for any gunplay.

Random thoughts so far... great use of "Man Who Sold The World"... LOL @ character creation... fire-whale and unicorn, huh?... I love that it's the 80's and while Snake is rocking a Walkman he's also got an "iDroid"... I am so bad at stealth.

It's actually an even better use of the song than you think...

You can also collect a bunch of 80s song cassettes and listen to them on missions (also how you can listen to a lot of the background briefings and stuff). Though, on PC, you can apparently import music too. You can also pick a song to play over the chopper's loudspeaker when it shows up.
The console versions have an app that can put the iDroid stuff on an Android or iOS phone or tablet, but I'm not sure the PC version can sync with it.

Stealth can be fairly difficult without a -lot- of recon, though one thing to keep in mind is that once you've tagged stuff, it stays tagged even if you wind up dying/reloading. So it can get progressively easier to be stealthy if you don't just say screw it and go full Rambo. That said, sometimes the game does checkpoint at really odd places.

Also, once you acquire D-Dog, he tags things for you within a reasonable radius. Quiet does as well, though to a more limited degree (she does do other stuff though, and you can deploy her to other locations instead of her just following you).

what's this BS I've read about Chapter 2 being a bunch of missions you have replay? That sounds meh. Not that I should concern myself w/ Ch. 2 when I'm only 90 mins into the game...
