This is the first time I've ever heard of judgment being passed on cargo shorts! It makes so little sense that I find the whole thing hilarious. Don't even waste your time on this kind of grade A fashion bullshit, dudes.
Cargo shorts are cute. The contrasted "chino shorts" look like they're trying to appear expensive, which is not a positive.
And anything that purports that "real men" or "real gentlemen" do or don't do X, Y, or Z should throw up some red flags right away anyway, right?
Relatedly, there was a time period in the early 00s when ladies' bell-bottoms frequently had cargo pockets on the side. It was glorious. Lady pants hardly ever have adequate pocket room. Sometimes we even wind up with fake pockets, which is the biggest insult of all.
How do you feel about men wearing cargo shorts?

My wife complains about this fairly often.Key-Glyph wrote:Lady pants hardly ever have adequate pocket room.
Mainly because she refuses to use a purse.

A new thing I've heard being bitched about are lady jeans turning to shit quality -- both falling apart far too easy but also fake pockets where they stitch a strip (a pocket lip) on the outside and you have nowhere to store anything which is just beyond stupid.

This is why everyone should just wear skirts. No one gets pockets.
If they are tight jeans, anything stored in them that is not card thin is very noticeable and will draw your eye because it is unnatural, not to mention can be painful to the wearer.Tanooki wrote:fake pockets where they stitch a strip (a pocket lip) on the outside and you have nowhere to store anything which is just beyond stupid.

I wasn't thinking of that, but all lines which include the non-skinny stuff for every day use, work jeans, riding jeans..usually they're boot cut and all that not skin tight.

Riding jeans are usually as tight as possible. Though I associate riding jeans with horse riding, so Ariat, I do not know much about current motorcycle culture.
Dont get me wrong, I like pockets alot. I typically wear carpenter or cargo pants when I can and use the pockets.

Uhh, riding jeans are not supposed to be as tight as possible. Tighter than straight legs, sure, but not as tight as possible. Women's fashion in riding jeans trends that way, and certain mens brands have, but that's not correct.fastbilly1 wrote:Riding jeans are usually as tight as possible. Unless I'm confused and riding jeans are some archaic thing I'm confusing with what literally everyone I've ever known wear to ride.

I'm not thinking tight thigh riding jeans, but the relaxed fit western style boot cut, meant for loose breathing room comfort, not crotch destroying grip of death pants but those that would have plenty of puffy room for a good full pocket. Don't think Ariat, think Wranglers instead. I wear Ariats for shoes, a moderately low high top workboot that's called the terrain (waterproof.) I'm on my 3rd pair in nearly a decade as they're just that damn comfortable and durable. Down side is, so used to them a normal snug shoe now makes my damn foot hurt like it's in a vice. :\

I asked several of my horseback riding friends, well and my wife who has ridden dressage for over twenty years, all agreed riding jeans should be as tight as possible. Not skinny jeans tight, but as tight as possible. Breeches on the other hand are skintight, but thats neither here nor there. Again I do not know about motorcycle riding, sold the bikes last year.
