How do you feel about men wearing cargo shorts?

I went to a big bowling alley today. Saw a bunch of dudes there. Most of them were my age or even older. Out of the 30 or so guys I saw there wearing shorts, a good 28 were wearing some form of cargo shorts (all knee length or longer). I saw two dudes wearing khaki shorts, but only one of those dude's khaki shorts actually were above his knees. And I think that's because the guy was freakishly tall more so than on purpose.

"Is it just me, or is that guy sitting around staring at dude's asses?"

"Whatever man, let's just bowl and pretend he isn't there."

Well, five pages of this, and I'm finally getting to weigh in!

I've got no problem with cargo shorts. Heck, my Mom keeps track of fashion at least somewhat, and she has no problem with them, and no girls I've hung out with had issue with them. I'm much more concerned about the guy at work that wears skinny jeans. Absolutely terrifying.

Now, make no mistake, cargo shorts are casual-only attire. There is no making them workable for professional anything. But if you're enjoying yourself on the town over the weekend, go for it. I personally wear them where they go just below my knees, usually with a nice button-down shirt that's either short-sleeved or with the sleeves rolled up and shirt tail out, and closed-toe sandals. Looks a touch classier than just a t-shirt.

It's OK, Exhuminator. As of 2015, GQ says it is OK to wear cargo shorts, but under no circumstances should they dip below the knee. (I have not purchased shorts in many years, and I was delighted to read that all of the shorts in my wardrobe are still fashionable! I'll have to wear them more!)

I'm just picturing lonely dudes clearing cargo shorts out their wardrobe after reading those asinine articles. "These! These are the problem!"

I can think of way tackier clothing norms than cargo shorts. I already expressed my disdain for crocs. What I really loathe are those Columbia PFG shirts, the fishing shirts with the big flap on the back. Yeah they're fine for fishing, I get that. But dudes down here wear them everywhere they go. Shopping, the workplace, sports events, funerals, you name it. Hideous, hideous shirts.

I've worn them for a long time and I see no reason to stop, mind you mine are just above the knee not below as those do look kind of stupid and always have...it's like cargo short capris or something weird. I could give a shit what fashionistas say. Look at the weird garbage with hot women wearing it on the runway often have to put up, no one would be caught dead in a lot of that crap.
