Re: How do you feel about men wearing cargo shorts?
I was thinking about this when I was in Raleigh last night watching a performance of The Roaring Girl. Of all the guys there - roughly 15, I'd estimate - me and one other were the only ones NOT wearing cargo shorts.

The knee thing is definitely delicate. Too short and you're a creep, too long and you look like a clown.

Man, I don't get it. I wear cargo shorts, flip flops, tank tops, whatever is comfortable when I'm off work. Nobody ever bats an eye, even when I am wearing the "wife beater" out and my tattoos aren't covered.
I don't make a habit of that last stylistic choice, but I live very close to Exhuminator geographically and I concur it is hot and swampy as hell down here. If I were a chunky dude or a string bean I probably wouldn't wear tanks, but that is only from personal preference. Usually I see several guys not wearing shirts or shoes at all, so I'm up the ladder a bit from them as far as fashion is concerned. Just above the minimum is good enough for me.
Anyway, like JT....I'm off the market. My wife digs my attire, so anyone else can feel free to hate on it. It doesn't bother me at all. Suits do not go well with baseball caps.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, we have a single income and my kids are label whores so my clothes have to be cheap as well. I'll be damned if I'm paying $20-30 for a t-shirt.
I wear suits to weddings and funerals. I do wear khakis and button ups to work though, so I don't get fired and such.

Yeah I literally only have one set of dress pants, a shirt, and some ties, so just one main set of clothes I've used for years for those sorts of rare events.jp1 wrote:I wear suits to weddings and funerals. I do wear khakis and button ups to work though, so I don't get fired and such.

I have a pair like this, they are great-looking and very versatile. I do wear them at work, though, which is a blessing, they are more comfortable at high temperatures that closed shoes.samsonlonghair wrote:Nah. Grown men in flop-flops look like tourists, but a good pair of leather closed-toed sandals look fine in the summer. I wear a pair more or less similar to these when I'm not at work.
Anyways, articles like this only show how much the written press has declined and how far gone the whole medium is. Practically every once-respectable outlet has increasingly turned into garbage. The Washington Journal and Bussiness Insider were always bad but when you have The New York Times trying to shame a minor geek celebrity for explaining why he doesn't want to watch a movie remake, you know things are really bad.

I have to wear a shirt ant tie for work, so I'm cool with casual cargo shorts in the summer. It's a fair Balance.
Today bought 5 new shirts, 1 long tie, and 2 bow ties for the upcoming school year. I also wear suit pants; I can't stand casual khakis or Dockers.

I don't really wear shorts but these articles really make me want to go out and buy some cargo shorts.
Re: How do you feel about men wearing cargo shorts?
I'm not sure if I should point out that there was some measure of bullshit in my last post.
Ironic coincidence?

Great, I suppose jean shorts and fanny packs are a no no also!
Re: How do you feel about men wearing cargo shorts?
Funny thing about style: man makes the clothes instead of the other way around.
(Ok, not entirely true. But if you are buying well-made clothes with proper fit then it's more accurate than any damn fashion article would have you believe.)
