What was the last movie you've seen?

I watched Secret Life of Pets the other day. Fairly stupid. If you're a dog lover, you'll get a kick out of a few cute scenes. I'd wait for this one on Netflix or redbox. Not worth running to the theaters to see.

That was basically my thoughts. It's a very dog centric movie and I'm a cat person. I was hoping for something more balanced across the scale. I must say, though, that Kevin Hart as Snowball the Bunny was amazing.

If you like Hart's style of humor, you should check out Central Intelligence! I thought it was a funny one.

Went and saw Finding Dory over the weekend. Due to certain preponderance of melancholy event recently, I needed a bit of a pick-me-up. Pixar did not disappoint.

when Killing Joke started, I was worried. There's a prologue tacked on that feels pretty different in tone to the book. It concerns Batgirl. I won't go into much detail for fear of spoilers. But, when the book proper kicks in, the movie is incredible. It is so close to the source material, it's amazing. It felt just as it did when I read the book. And the voice acting is fantastic. Reviews are mixed - but that seems to be because of the prologue. I highly highly recommend seeing this, guys.

And I truly hope that Long Halloween gets a similar treatment.

Just did Star Trek Beyond this early evening with the wife, been a LONG time since we did a movie and it's fantastic. It's so very well done. I say screw the bitter nerds who bitch how it's the 'abramsverse' because there's too much story and action going on and not enough slower pacing and nerding out on trek (and real) science. Sorry but the Picard and old (and new crew) movies of little action and maximum talk is over -- it didn't pay the bills and only the core types enjoyed it and the ticket sales sucking worse and worse proved that. It like the other two are very well done and well made movies. In a way it feels kind of star wars like where you have some decent story but a lot of action to back it up and that's not a bad thing.

This is pretty much what I've been hearing/reading everywhere. The actual 'Killing Joke' part of Killing Joke is great. Looks good. Sounds good. Mark Hamill A+++. But the first, what, thirty minutes or so.... Not so much.

Most people from what I've seen have just condemned the whole plot of that opening (and considering the subject matter behind Killing Joke, I think that's saying something). But even if you ignore that or don't give a damn about the plot of the prologue, the issues with the change of tone and feel and pacing makes it feel, as you said, tacked on. Which is just a damn shame. It sounds like if they'd focused more on making the opening more cohesive to the rest of the story they could have knocked it out of the ball park. But alas. I don't feel like Killing Joke should have 20% of it's ratings on Amazon be 1-star reviews. Hell, even some of the 5-star reviews are saying to skip the beginning. That's just sad.

Thanks, SNESdrunk. I have been trying to remember the name of this movie for years now. I saw it on Showtime or HBO back when it was relatively new. I loved it, but couldn't recall the title.

I work at a radio station, so a horror movie set in a radio station really strikes me. Plus, it's just a darn weird movie.
