I watched your video on Genesis games the SNES missed as I ate breakfast this morning.

Nice vids.
Strangely enough, I like the SNES version of Aladdin better. The Prince of Persia-lite gameplay is tons of fun.
As for Hyperstone Heist, the easiest way to pull the thrash move is to do a running attack, let the stick go neutral when you hit, then hit attack, and you'll pull it almost every time. That's how I plow through the game every time.

I was waiting for you to post these!
I've been playing Turtles in Time since back in the day, and I always wanted to check out Hyperstone Heist since learning about it (maybe 10 years ago). I finally got to play it a year or two ago when I got an Everdrive MD. I wasn't disappointed with the game, but it definitely felt like a lazy approach was taken. The levels from TMNT4 made sense because of the whole time warp from which you will never return thing. But Hyperstone Heist felt more like "how can we reuse these assets?" You reach a level and it's like "A Ghost Ship." Why? Well, just because we made a pirate ship for TMNT4. The game also feels pretty short compared to TMNT4, which also makes it feel like it was rushed.
Konami made Castlevania Bloodlines and Contra Hard Corps for the Genesis, both of which I've played before Hyperstone Heist. Castlevania and Contra were both built from the ground up exclusively for the Genesis, they're both totally original games, so I guess for that reason I was expecting a little more from Hyperstone Heist.
All that aside, the game IS fun, and that's what's important. I like to play using this patch: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2330/
I watched this on the 28th, and IIRC, you said something like Hyperstone Heist is "cobbled together" which is the feeling I got from it as well.SNESdrunk wrote:Thursday, July 28, 2016 - TMNT: Hyperstone Heist

Ah, I forgot, I was gonna comment on these two things.Sarge wrote:Strangely enough, I like the SNES version of Aladdin better. The Prince of Persia-lite gameplay is tons of fun.

It's not strange, I think Aladdin on the SNES is better than the Genesis version. I've tried to play the Genesis version a few times, I just don't like the level design. Too much vertical scrolling.
That's the other thing that baffled me when I first played Hyperstone Heist. I was used to TMNT4, where you can control that along with throwing enemies at the screen. In Hyperstone Heist, it's more random and just sorta happens when it wants to.

I tried this and it in fact does work fantastic, thanks!Sarge wrote:As for Hyperstone Heist, the easiest way to pull the thrash move is to do a running attack, let the stick go neutral when you hit, then hit attack, and you'll pull it almost every time. Those two are coming up in the next few weeks. I loved Bloodlines. Hard Corps is too... hardcore, for a lack of a better term.Ziggy587 wrote:Konami made Castlevania Bloodlines and Contra Hard Corps for the Genesis, both of which I've played before Hyperstone Heist. And I'm in the same boat Zig. I'm learning about all these games as I go along, to the point that I may start phasing out NES and Game Boy stuff to do more Genesis. There's a ton more I want to tackle like Ranger X, the Disney games, all the sports games, and some Japan-only games

The prospect of this has me excited! You are definitely one of my favorite channels on YouTube and I've told you before I really enjoy the Sega drunk videos. It's like experiencing the library for the first time again. Anyways, great video again.SNESdrunk wrote:And I'm in the same boat Zig. Thanks for watching dude, I have a LOT planned to end the year. The other big Sega Konami games, a lot of Super Famicom stuff, big SNES genre videos on basketball and golf, Final Fantasy 7, Chrono Cross... and Mega Man Soccer!

Awesome as always. I'd love to see future volumes of these, but y'know I'm biased.SNESdrunk wrote:Tuesday, August 2, 2016 - Best Genesis games SNES owners missed out on
When you're through with the Konami games another good place to look for great Genesis exclusives is its Namco library, with the Rolling Thunder and Splatterhouse games among others. Lots of quality stuff there.
Re: SNESdrunk reviews
I started watching your videos SNESdrunk, and I find them very good. I've watched your "what SNES football games are worth playing today?" There were ones for other sports as well, but not one for basketball. I'd love to see that!SNESdrunk wrote: basketball... and Mega Man Soccer!
Also, I've been playing a lot of soccer games recently, so mega man soccer seems interesting.
