My wife decided she felt left out and installed it a few days ago, not sure how they had it pop up for her as I didn't see it, but she got a Kingler. I did just evolve a flareon the other day and I'm up into Lv11 now around 1/2 way I think as I'm not looking at it.
I think all the changes are a plus, and given how the little paw prints on the distance box never worked anyway can't say I miss that. I've got my vaporeon fairly well leveled, not sure how far it will go before it maxes out the CP though, that is what happens with that curved bar isn't it?

Re: Pokémon Go
Correct. When the CP arc indicator is all the way to the right, it's maxed out at your current level. Higher levels increase CP maximum.
I didn't do a whole lot today, but my potions are getting there still. Vaporeon is 48 hours in the gym now, and other hotspots I usually visit are all Valor-controlled. It's a good day for my team!

Re: Pokémon Go
Pretty good weekend. Went out of town yesterday and added some new additions to the roster:
Mankey (egg hatch)
Nidorino
Ponyta
Jigglypuff
Clefairy (egg hatch)
Geodude (egg hatch)
Also found another Pikachu and a Charmander
I'm up to level 15 now, have two Lucky Eggs, have at least 15 Pokemon ready to evolve and only need one or two more to secure a couple other evolutions. I was going to try to use the one Lucky Egg this weekend, but I didn't have time to walk around like I did the previous weekends and I want to save it till I can get the extra Exp. for the Stops and the Egg hatch. But even without the Egg I jumped up two levels this weekend, so still some good progress.
I like what I've seen of the changes so far. Not too sure about the supposed change in the drop rate, as I didn't notice anything today, but hopefully a little more variety will be popping up soon.

Re: Pokémon Go
Variety I'd like to see happen. For me still it's mostly the same 5-6 pokemon that show up on dry or rainy days and that's it. Here and there a few others rarely pop up but the list is pretty narrow. The last couple days it's been a mean tease throwing up a Meowth shadow in my general area but I've yet to see it materialize at all, even a snorlax once or twice in the last week too.
I'd love to know what it takes for Charmander to pop up. Bulbasaur shows up in pretty grassy/park like areas and obviously the squirtle around ponds/lakes/rivers (and I'm sure the sea/ocean.) What of the little fire dino... desert? Death Valley is pretty far away.

Re: Pokémon Go
My only problem as of now is the tracking. I'm hoping that this is only a temporary situation. Even with the "3 step" issue, at least you knew what was close. Right now it's just a bunch of random Pokémon on the page. Not a game-breaker for me, but I'm seeing a lot of heat over it where I read. Otherwise, everything else is a little more stable and smoother, and no problem getting in and staying there.

Pretty sure it's luck. The one was a hatch, but I found the other in front of the food court at the mall

Yeah. That needs some tweaks.
The only plus I can think of regarding tracking that the moment, is that I'm actually running into Pokemon that are listed on the tracker, instead of just coming across random 'mon. When the '3 step' glitch started, that was happening a lot. I'd run across, say, a Bellsprout, which, okay, yay I guess, but there hadn't been a Bellsprout on my radar at all before that, which was really confusing/annoying. That exact situation happened when I caught Snorlax. Happy as I was to find him, he hadn't been anywhere on my Nearby tracker at all. Which of course begs the question of what's the point of having some kind of a tracker if the tracker is feeding you inaccurate data?
Now at least when I run across something, the Pokemon is somewhere on the radar. It might not be on the top like I'd expect, but at least its on there.
Re: Pokémon Go
Damn right it's luck. My wife got into this out of sheer curiosity and if anything says how much it's starting to bother me...today alone she caught a ponyta and a charmander on our own street, but at the end she also spotted Snorlax but at her few level status had no chance to bag it. I did get Meowth at the grocery store though, and an hour ago waiting at a light caught a mid 400s Raticate at the side of the road.
Re: Pokémon Go
Today there was the shadow of a Cubone on my "tracker" and I couldn't get him. But I did find a brand new Valor gym to leave my Flareon in. Plus, Vaporeon's still in the other gym (3 days and counting!) so I was able to collect a double defender bonus today.
I hope people are still playing. Although to keep my strongest Pokémon in gyms for days on end isn't bad either.

The pokemon she sees are also available for you too. So if she sees one it will be popping up on your map. This is confirmed with friends.

Re: Pokémon Go
Today I could have had 4 more gyms in addition to the 2 I still have. 3 were Valor controlled along the same stretch of highway, and one was Instinct and for the first time in about a week I was able to battle again and take it. BUT, just before I battled the Instinct gym, someone must have been trailing me because I lost those 3 Valor gyms along the highway (these were all L3 with 3 Pokémon each!).
So as of right now I still have 3 gyms. I might make my first triple bonus!
New evolutions today - Kadabra with a Psychic & Ghost attack, and a Starmie with Hydro Pump and over 1200CP.
