SPRING BREAK CHALLENGE!

Post by PGchris »

So my spring break begins this Friday, and for the last three years or so I've forced myself to travel or be active over this blissful 7 day siesta, but this year, oh no. I do not care I am going to embrace my nerdom, probably purchase an econo size box of hot pockets, stock my fridge with soda and beer, smoke alot of weed and just waste away in my basement with my roomies(maybe play a little ping pong if I'm feeling particularly active). Sounds like a little slice of heaven huh? So my goal is to complete as many games as I can in this one week.

My question to you, my racketboy brethren is what is a good number to shoot for? At first I thought 10 would be a nice round number to go with but that might be too high, although Im pretty close to beating Castlevania 4 and Bioshock so it would be pretty easy to finish those two off. Also any suggestions for some good games that arent incredible long? Anybody else ever attempt stuff like this?

PS: I should also mention that while I love video games and play alot I am neither a very skilled nor accomplished gamer and rarely challenge myself like this. So if you think ten games in one week is way low, then remember... I'll be under the influence.

WOW, good luck with that.

Maybe I am just getting old, but I don't think there would be any way for me to finish more than 3-4 games in a week. That would have to be without any interruption also. Maybe I just like to take my time and enjoy a game more than I should.

Hmm, maybe your right ten could be a bit ambitious. But I know I could finish more than 4 in one week, recently me and my girlfriend played through Donkey Kongs 1 2 and 3 in the span of 2 weeks and we really didn't even try.

Beatemups are great in that with multiple continues you can bang out a few a day, or an hour if you really pushed it. Plus they are great for pick up and play with others - most people can get a kick out of them even if they only understand move and punch. You may get burned out on the though, they can be tedious.

Id fire up mame and go for:
Bubble Bobble
Contra - though I think the NES port is better
Golden Axe (2 and 3 are on the Genesis/Megadrive if you choose to continue)
Altered Beast
Captain America and the Avengers - awesome 4 player coop
Xmen - 4 player - so you can change characters when you die for variety
Armored Warriors - beatemup with big robots and switchable parts
Fantasy Zone - everyone must play atleast one cutemup
Metal Slug 1-6
Rampart
Ill stop with one more. If you are feeling like you need to do alot of work - RAMPAGE.

if you happen to have an nes, you can't go wrong with contra, super mario bros, and techmo bowl football.

also, good luck if you plan on being drunk and stoned, lol. you may find that curling up on the couch is much easier under those circumstances.

Haha. I'm spending mine at a LAN with five other buddies. Smoking pot and playing games the whole week. It's actually quite enthralling playing CoD4 stoned. Good luck on your endeavor, bring lots of food.

Well my brother just bought me castle crashers so I'll be playing that and I think I'm going attempt to beat Sonic 1,2,3 and CD but I've never played any of them all the way through. Played sonic 1 for about an hour the other day and I was awful, couldn't get past the second world.

I'd rather play games sober and weed-free, how would you be able to concentrate on the game if the tv won't stay still?
