I checked Memory Alpha, but I don't see what you're describing.
Well I am possibly posting baseless rumors, I'm not a Star Trek lore enthusiast.

It had a tiny, tiny mention in the first season episode “Conspiracy.” It shows up in Starfleet’s files, where an order regarding the Discovery’s rendezvous and personnel transfers with other ships is read by Data.

Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.
Come to think of it, TNG writers used to call up cool names for federation spaceships all the time like "USS Apollo" or "USS Excaliber" without really explaining much about the starship itself - just a cool name and an NCC number. My favorite name for a starship in TNG is still the USS Minnow. Classic.
The music did get really crap when Berman fired him.
Yeah it's quite a downgrade. I read a little into all of that before going through the transition (think it's after season 3?), but even if I didn't know that, I would have eventually wondered what the heck happened. The music in the first few seasons is incredible.
I really need to get back to DS9, it was really starting to grow on me a lot. I keep holding out in hopes that it gets BD releases as well though...
So it's been announced that the new series will focus on a female lieutenant commander rather than a captain as all the other series have. They want to have a different character dynamic compared to what we've seen. Can't find a link right now or I would post it.
