How is your Game Gear gaming going?
Re: How is your Game Gear gaming going?
Been playing shinobi 2 and I'm into it. Makes me just want to buy ninja gaiden and the first shinobi on eBay just to get those games.

Solid game I have that one, not easy but not unfair either so it's cool. Ninja Gaiden is easy to start but gets hard, no checkpoints, get your ass handed to you even on the boss, do the whole stage over. It's fun though and they're fairly generous with the life bottles through the stage so you shouldn't go into a fight as a cripple. I need to get that first shinobi too on GG.
Here's an obscure one, problem is I can't find a EU seller with it willing to get a shipping total to me but Wizard (it's a pinball game) fairly decent for the year, nothing WHOA value either but it does have a few screen heights to it, various obstacles, and even a multiball setup. Japan has a really nice Sailor Moon game which plays well, same with Zenki. I could throw out Aleste (both) but the price...argh.

So it seems like I have been having people get back into the game gear with my collecting thread. And I love it.
It's a forgettable system and people just brush it off but I have been liking my game gear to the point that I'm playing that at night before I go to bed instead of the 3ds.
I only wish I can send it out for the Lcd mod. Still looking to get more titles but I think maybe I should just save and wait for mega man to find a decent price and grab it

^ I'm one of those guys back in. Had my original one from '92 out this morning and ended up getting to work about 30 minutes later than i had planned. In 2016 this happened.
Then I made a Game Gear purchase today - made an offer on a $19.99 listing of $16.00 (+$4.00 shipping) for a minty-looking non-working Game Gear, a carrying case (smaller case, did not have this one) and two games - Land of Illusion and Tale Spin (will prob move this to mas).
I figure, this one needs caps and if I want to experiment with a screen replacement, I needed a backup one anyway. I played a ton of Castle of Illusion on the GG and LoI is one I had my eye on and how I found the auction.

I just won a majesco model game gear for 35.00. It's missing a back plate but I got extras. I have been wanting one of these for a long time.
I didn't want to spend that kind of money but they majesco models on eBay is expensive as hell

Started with the best did you? Shinobi 2 puts those other 2 games to shame, even though they are fun in their own right as well.mas wrote:Been playing shinobi 2 and I'm into it. Makes me just want to buy ninja gaiden and the first shinobi on eBay just to get those games.
Ninja Gaiden was disappointing at 1st (doesn't feel like a game from that series and seemed a little bland), but I learned to like it in the end. I had no extreme trouble beating it.
I really need to get to fixing up some more systems. I'm just not happy with my current "fixed" models. One of them has a bad connection to the LED mod I did to it (light flickers at random intervals when it is put back together, and I can't locate the short).
Another I want to add 2 more LED's to it (currently running on 2, want to make it a 4-eyed beast); it was my 1st mod, and it begs for improvement.
Once I do, I'd like to play through some more games, and maybe even put my Everdrive to some use.
...just another lost soul...

Awe I see what you did there lol. I'm fairly excited for it. I remember seeing that and a Genesis 3 model and a couple of games for each for 30.00 at Ames department stores. I wanted to get one back then but I owned the system back then with just a few games and didn't pay too much attention about it. I also didn't know the majesco had better screen and better capiciators

That was going to be my question also - are the Majesco Game Gears blue?
I didn't know they had better screens, that's interesting.
