Random Gaming Thoughts
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yeah, I've heard the last-gen version was done very, very well.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Rise of the Tomb Raider is excellent! Glad to have more peeps playing it.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I still like the Tomb Raider reboot better but Rise of the Tomb Raider is very solid and they expanded the open world elements quite a bit.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yeah I'm pretty excited for it. I bet the combat/gameplay is better than Uncharted 4, just like the reboot was compared to the first three Uncharted games.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Honestly it is better then UC4. I just don't care much for open world games sometimes. I feel obligated to complete all of the side content which ends up screwing with my focus on the central story.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
So WoW just did their pre-legion patch and it changed everything (and streamlined a lot of it, making it much more of a button-mashy game... not sure how I feel about that yet). One of my favorite things so far is their new Transmogrification window - you only have to have acquired/equipped the item once to be able to make things look like it, you don't need to keep bags and bags full of items kicking around, which is fantastic. Plus now I can see (right in-game) where certain looks come from, so this game is about to become a lot more RP-based for me as I hunt down things for outfits and whatnot.
Anyway, that's not what I was typing this for. I was typing this because I was alt-hopping and setting up my bars again for the new abilities and I noticed that they got rid of the Combat specialization for Rogues entirely.
It's now an Outlaw specialization. You guys, I can play a pirate rogue! Like... they have an ability that is a cannonball barrage, how amazing is that?!? I've been healer main for close to a decade now, but I might have to switch up to play a pirate!

One of FFXI's buffing classes is Corsair, which is effectively a pirate/gambler that buffs the party by playing blackjack (well, rolls to go to 11, not 21, but same difference). They also predominately use guns for offense, and have a hand cannon as a Mythic weapon.KalessinDB wrote: It's now an Outlaw specialization. You guys, I can play a pirate rogue! Just saying.
Nice for the cosmetic change though. XI still needs lockstyle items to be in an inventory, even if it's not one you could actually equip from. Also needs to be something you could wear, though I guess that's not a relevant thing for most games.

Still needs to be the same basic type (Plate armor can be xmog'd to Plate, Cloth to Cloth, one-handed weapons to one-handed weapons, etc), and it needs to be picked up by someone who's supposed to wear it (technically a warrior can wear cloth, but your warrior can only add plate to the wardrobe -- which your pally could then use to xmog)...isiolia wrote:Nice for the cosmetic change though. But yes, it's worlds better and I'm quite happy about it

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I had a fantastic time tonight hanging out and gaming with TSTR and swiftzx. They came over, checked out my game room, and just hung out. Played some PT, some RE7 demo, some Devil's Third, some Legendary Axe and Blazing Lasers, some Sin and Punishment and Rogue Squadron, and some Samurai Shodown and Metal Slug. After swift left, TSTR and I fired up the Saturn and tried out UNO DX for the first time. Lemme tell you, UNO is a great game by itself, but adding anime girls to the mix just makes it a hundred times better.

Ahh, okay. XI's system is quite flexible, as it basically lets you define gear sets comprised of anything your character can wear on any job (or hide slots, not change appearance of slots, etc). The game is a bit different from most in that you can level every job on one character. With all jobs maxed, a player can potentially lockstyle any piece of armor in the game, provided they have it in inventory someplace.KalessinDB wrote: Still needs to be the same basic type (Plate armor can be xmog'd to Plate, Cloth to Cloth, one-handed weapons to one-handed weapons, etc), and it needs to be picked up by someone who's supposed to wear it (technically a warrior can wear cloth, but your warrior can only add plate to the wardrobe -- which your pally could then use to xmog)...
Weapons are different, and have to match what's actually equipped.
Funny enough, it's not just a cosmetic thing for XI. Another thing that the game does differently from a lot of others is that you can change gear in combat, which is a key part of optimizing a job.
'course, changing visible gear causes the character to blink out for a split second, which can be annoying if someone is targeting you, or might cause other animations to not display right. Locking appearance avoids that problem, provided it's feasible (can't do much about macroing between weapon types).
