Sonic Mania just got announced on Sega's live stream. To absolutely no one's surprise (and my frustration), it will completely skip the Wii U and NX (at least as of right now), releasing on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Having said that, I am happy they are bring back the old character designs. And given that it seems like Sega is having no actual hand in this there is actually hope to be had.

Sonic Generations 2 (although title not confirmed - so I could be jumping to conclusions) also seems to have been revealed (PS4, NX!!!, Xbox One and PC):


I'm not sure why Sonic Mania isn't coming to the NX and I would have loved a Vita version too. I'm still really excited for it though. It looks amazing and they really captured the 'classic Sonic' gameplay in that trailer, unlike Sonic 4. Here's hoping it is as good as it looks.

I didn't care about Generations as much as most, but I'd pickup 2 on the cheap.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm excited. I jusr, as a rule, am butthurt when a Sonic game doesn't come to Nintendo platforms.

No word on Vita, but I did read this morning that Renegade Kid has offered to port Sonic Mania to 3DS.

Why is no one surprised? I'm surprised. There's logic behind not releasing it on a Nintendo console?

I don't own a PS4 or Xbox One, with no plans to any time soon. That means I'll have to purchase this (assuming it doesn't tank when it's released) on PC, reluctantly, if I want to play it. I'm more likely to hold out for a later Nintendo port, and if it never happens than I'll score it on PC when it's on sale or gets a price drop or something.

Your loss, Sega.

Out of all the shitty, and I mean absolutely TERRIBLE, Sonic trash that Sega pumped out since Sonic & Knuckles, almost EVERY single release had a Nintendo port (Sonic 06 is the only one I can think of that didn't). So, after some one finally realized, "Duh, people like da Genesis Sonic games but no like the other ones," they decide not to have a Nintendo port?

I always pictured if you walk into Sega headquarters, their would be a huge slogan up on the wall in the lobby. "Making bad decisions since 1994."

It doesn't make any sense to me that it's not on a Nintendo console, but it makes even less sense since they announced another Sonic game that IS being released on the NX.
