Nobu is awesome!noiseredux wrote:just finished ep9 of season 1. It ends w/ Foggy finding Matt all bloodied from his fight w/ Nobu (awesome scenes btw) and realizing that he's DD. So lots of character dynamics should change I'm guessing now that Foggy knows - and presumably Karen will find out as well.
So what have you guys been watching lately?

Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

I've been watching Cheers, The Twilight Zone, The Addam's Family, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, M*A*S*H... you know... all the modern stuff.

Mr Robot (on Prime)
It's good, but was expecting more. A few people I tend to agree with on TV stuff really raved about it, but while enjoyable, i'm not glued to it. Maybe it picks up.

I'm doing cheers right now. 270 some episodes. I'm on episode 8. I've probably seen 10% of the episodes over 25 years of syndication, but I'm enjoying watching it from the beginning. What stands out most is the direction. Very impressive compared to most sitcoms. Especially for '82.noiseredux wrote:Cheers is one of my favorite sitcoms of all time.
Didn't realize Frasier wasn't there from the beginning though. Apparently he shows up in season 3. Once I'm done with the 270 (probably over a year away) I'll start on Frasier. I've probably seen a good 20% of that one.

Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
just finished season 1 of Daredevil. It was great. I think it and Jessica Jones are tied for me as my favorite shows airing right now. Season 1 of JJ was a better season in my opinion - just in the sense that it wrapped everything up at the end. DD felt like it ends on a bit of a "to be continued" note.
But these shows are two sides to a coin. DD is action-focused and has some intense character development. It feels like a "comic book," though. JJ feels like a dark drama about PTSD and depression. But both are awesome.
I love that Matt FINALLY got that suit in the end. I felt bad for Melvin. I felt worse about Ben. I definitely care about these characters, and as such I'm glad that this and JJ are overlapping and working their way towards The Defenders.
Not sure how soon I'll have time to start season 2.

I love Cheers. I've been re-watching a lot of older sitcoms recently. I always loved the genre, but most of the newer stuff just doesn't do anything for me.noiseredux wrote:Cheers is one of my favorite sitcoms of all time.

I just finished the last episode of Deutschland 83 and it is one of the best shows I have seen for a long time.
This German made show follows a reluctant East German spy in West Germany during the height of the Cold War, it really does a great job of setting the tone of both the East and West during this period and the corruption on both sides. One of the best things is it has this 80's upbeat pop soundtrack, that just contrasts the bleak tone of the show so well at times. It has great pacing and hits the ground running from the first 10 minutes I was hooked.
If you enjoy anything to do with the Cold War or espionage I highly suggest checking this one out.
