However, the HDMI port is not as robust as RCA jacks. Not a good idea to treat the NES Classic as a PlugNPlay for travel with constant plugging into the TVs, the HDMI cable pins could get bent. In addition, not all TVs at various out of the way "pitstops" have HDMI TVs. Keep the NES Classic under your big screen running thru one of the HDMI ports. My Wii is waiting for two NES Classic Controllers!
NES Classic
Re: NES Classic
Great that the NES Classic has HDMI output to support the higher fixed resolution of modern TVs. This brings NES gameplay to the big screen with a permanent owned game library and not downloads that can go away. I like the idea of NO online update which guarantees the games in that tiny console will stay put.

Carry an HDMI to composite adapter in that case.CRTGAMER wrote:In addition, not all TVs at various out of the way "pitstops" have HDMI TVs.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: NES Classic
I just pre-ordered one. Here's hoping the NES Classic is the same console worldwide and us in 'PAL-land' don't get butchered 50hz roms.
Even if we do, it would be the same as me buying a PAL NES and PAL games anyways (unless modded NES consoles are common and inexpensive - My Dreamcast and Mega Drive are modded).

Re: NES Classic
PAL NES can't be modded for 60hz from my understanding. You'd need a region modded NTSC system.Reprise wrote:I just pre-ordered one. Here's hoping the NES Classic is the same console worldwide and us in 'PAL-land' don't get butchered 50hz roms.

The N64 is the same
Re: NES Classic
I thought that was the case. Thanks for confirming.alienjesus wrote: PAL NES can't be modded for 60hz from my understanding. You'd need a region modded NTSC system.

Re: NES Classic
A local (Finnish) store just opened up pre-orders for this. Costs 80 EUR for the system and 20 EUR for an additional controller.
On the plus side, they specifically mention that it will have the original US NTSC/60 Hz -versions of the games. Out on November 11th.
They even had the European box to show:

One small store in Finland isn't exactly an official press release from NOE.
Let's not forget that Nintendo themselves advertised multiple "US" virtual console games for Megadrive and Neo Geo as 60hz on the Virtual Console Channel only for people downloading them to find they had been forced through a 50hz output.
They only took down this misleading information after some of us complained to trading standards.
Could you ask the store where they got this information from?
Re: NES Classic
I'll drop them a line.
It's not exactly a small retailer, though of course something like Amazon is much larger. But it's no mom 'n pop thrift store either.
