What happens when you beat DK country in under 30minutes?

Post by RemyC »

After beating Donkey Kong country, Cranky Kong gives his shpeel about being able to beat the game in under a half an hour (or something close to that).

Has anybody done this? What happens when/If you do?
I'm sure I could, if I devote enough time toward it. I normally focus my efforts towards finding all the bonus rooms, though.

If I'm not mistaken, there are no warps in the game. Therefore, it would be impossible to finish the game within that time span.

Actually, I believe it is entirely possible. Arnethegreat did a speedrun ( that took him 24:24 to complete. Of course, this is tool assisted, so I don't believe that it really counts. But that leaves nearly 6 minutes of extra time for non-tool-assisted goodness. So if you know the game well enough, and are really good at roll jumping, it should be definitely possible.

That being said, even though it is tool assisted, the game doesn't know otherwise, and he completes the game within that half hour time limit. I don't believe there is anything different about beating the game in that amount of time. If you're going for the full 101%, Adam Sweeney did it (TAS) in 44 minutes (http://speeddemosarchive.com/DonkeyKongCountry.html).

there is a warp in the first world on the map screen(second screen) that you can access by pushing select at the right moment. haven't played the game in over 10 years so check gamefaqs for the trick. :o

Here you can find a non-tool-assisted run.

It took him 32 minutes so maybe 30 minutes is possible

I thought cranky said he beat the game, finding everything, in under an hour. I don't think he used those exact words, but I always took what he meant was he was in every bonus room.

There's a few levels that take only seconds to beat, there's warps right at the start that bring you right to the finish. There's also one warp that I read, warping you from some where in the second area to the third area. I never did this, but I've read about it in numerous places.
