Yep, and I'm proud of it.

Hehe. I'm a big product of the 80's so I love me my Cinderella, Scorpions, and of course the goodies like Slayer, old Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and not to forget Dio.

You can't forget Dio. I got introduced to Dio and Cinderella through South Park; now they're regular fixtures of my playlist.

I'm not totally anti-80's metal. There were a few of them that really kicked ass.

In my opinion, Cinderella is the 80's metal equivalent of Bush or Stone Temple Pilots in the 90's grunge era (...or Three Days Grace in the post-grunge era. God I hate that band!). Sure, they could play their instruments and write songs perfectly to that genre, but they just weren't all that original. Especially when compared to bands like Depeche Mode, NWA, U2, the Cure, and many other artists who were also making some of the best music of their careers at the very same time.

Of course, it's a matter of personal taste...

Slick fusion-jazz band Spyro Gyra (especially the album Point of View) is THE best headphones-music around.

Otherwise Hella (Noise/Math-Rock with the drummer from The Advantage on guitar) and Igor Stravinsky's early ballets (especially The Firebird) gets a lot of listens at the moment.

I disagree. Listen to "Bad Seamstress Blues," which I believe was on night songs. I'm not saying it was genre defying or avant garde, but it's different and shows some real talent.

I think Cinderella were as original as any other good band in the 80's. They're sound is completely different from say Poison who were just playing pop tunes that they knew would sell. Cinderella played a more bluesy, rock-n-roll type of metal that wasn't as popular. But they all played their instruments very damned well.

But hey, if you want great guitar playing just look at Yngwie Malmsteen. He'll melt your face off with his insane guitar playing. Also look at Cacophony, with Jason Becker and Marty Friedman [particularly the song called Concerto].

But hey, if you want great guitar playing just look at Yngwie Malmsteen. He'll melt your face off with his insane guitar playing.

Yngwie is great at what he does. It just never really did anything for me. Sometimes a simple power chord from the disfigured fingers of Tony Iommi can have so much more feeling than the most complex solo from a virtuoso like Yngwie Malmsteem.

I was surprised too Seems like both the Hella guys are doing solo projects now though.. Zach Hill with his own name and Spencer with his new one-man-band sBACH. Interesting stuff, especially sBACH because he uses a LOT of chiptune sounds.
