Assault Suit series appreciation

I just bought Gunhound EX on Steam. Never played any of these games before, is this a good way in?

I'm not sure that Gunhound EX is canon to the Assault Suits series. I'm sure it plays similarly though.

Tweets and replies from Rising Star confirm a September release for the physical version. This year is killing my wallet. AoT hits near then. So does the Shantae remake. KoF 14... Ugh.

Nothing from Rising Star, but I think the digital release is coming out on the 12th for PS4 and Steam. Here's a Siliconerea article from June 30th.

Physical disc release for PS4 in the US is 8/30. EU is 9/9.

Steam release date is 8/30.
