I played a little bit of the Xbox version of Fatal Frame 2, and I MUCH prefer the Wii version for the controls and the perspective change. I can't speak to the PS2 version (although I have it), and the Xbox version definitely wasn't bad at all, but if you can manage to get a copy of the Wii version in your language (easier said than done for monolingual English speakers), that's definitely the version to play.pierrot wrote:Oh, my. That's outstanding. I might be playing the XBOX version this summer, then. I'm a little afraid that Chitose won't be quite as amazing in that version, though.Exhuminator wrote:Okay, I see where the confusion is coming into play here. The Xbox version (AKA Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Director's Cut) added a first person view option as one of its bonuses. In first person mode the player can play through the entire game from a first person perspective. So I was referring to playing that version in that mode.

Re: Conversations on the Xbox 360 and its library.
Please explain, I thought all the Wii Fatal Frame games were never localized anywhere?
I plan to get Silent Hill 2 (Restless Dreams), Silent Hill 4, and Fatal Frame 1-2 on the Xbox sometime. Even though I have them all on the PS2, sounds like the Xbox versions are superior in some ways. And I love this genre so it's a nice excuse to replay them.
I've continued to store away most of my 360 collection and in the process I booted up Condemned and FEAR yesterday, while I had them running on PC on a different input so I could see them back to back. It was shocking to say the least. As a retro gamer like most here would say I hope, age doesn't dictate quality... but FPS's feel like an exception to that rule for me in some cases somewhere in the PS2-360 era. The games looked like smeared mud and I don't even know if the framerates were 20FPS, didn't even look close to hitting 30. There's simply no way I can replay those on the 360 now haha. I'm just going to refrain from FPS's on the 360/PS3 nowadays unless it's purely console exclusives. I hate to say the higher resolutions and framerates on PC have spoiled me by this point for the FPS genre. But I guess this has been true for a long time now for me, I've never felt like I could ever go back to Goldeneye.

Re: Conversations on the Xbox 360 and its library.
Fatal Frame 4 was only released in Japan, but the remake of Fatal Frame 2 was released in Japan, Australia, and Europe. I've got an imported Australian copy that I played on my softmodded Wii. The way they did the PAL version is wonky, though; if I understand correctly (if someone knows otherwise, let me know), rather than putting all of major PAL languages on the one disc as is often done, there were separate English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, etc. versions made. If you only speak English, for example, you'd have to find either a British copy or an Australian copy.Xeogred wrote:Please explain, I thought all the Wii Fatal Frame games were never localized anywhere?

I feel you, man. Way back when Saints Row 3 came out, I saw PC footage, then I tried my friend's 360 copy, and it wasn't even close to looking as good. The 360 is a reasonably well optimized piece of kit, but damn, I can't play anything that was released on it and PC without just hating how the 360 version looks. That console started to show its age like halfway through its generation (graphically, not in terms of the hilariously high failure rate of the original models), and it really shows looking back now.Xeogred wrote:I've continued to store away most of my 360 collection and in the process I booted up Condemned and FEAR yesterday, while I had them running on PC on a different input so I could see them back to back. Man you guys gotta stop moving threads, lol. Can't keep track.
Is DOA Xtreme 2 rare or something? $30 used seems a bit much for something obviously silly.

Re: Conversations on the Xbox 360 and its library.
I did not know this...but, apparently, the ZX Spectrum classics Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy are available as indie games for the Xbox 360. Of course, I purchased them as soon as I discovered this fact.
Re: Conversations on the Xbox 360 and its library.
I'm seeing a few good double/triple pack bundles now, I see a lot of these for the PS3 and looks like the 360 has some as well. Any good combo/collections out there you guys can think of? Apparently they still aren't as good as the PS3 though, I'm not seeing a Gears 1-3 bundle. I see some nice Assassin's Creed bundles, Black Ops 1-2, etc.
(it seems outrageous how overpriced CoD games are on Steam... but I think they're better on consoles and they always run at 60 FPS I believe, I'll get them there).
What are the good JRPG's for the 360? I know that's a comical question, but I figure there's probably a few here and there. Always hear great things about Tales of Vesperia. I have Lost Odyssey covered. I don't think I gave Blue Dragon a fair shot outside of not caring for the demo or something... Dragon Quest 8 is probably a higher priority. I played a good chunk of Eternal Sonata and it was solid. I loved Last Remnant, but by this point the PC version is very different and definitive with many additions/changes.
Is there like one ultimate racing game on the 360? I keep hearing good stuff about Forza apparently.
My Amazon wishlist... I CAN'T BREATH!!! HELP

Re: Conversations on the Xbox 360 and its library.
What's your all time favorite 360 game and why?
-Really not fair as I can't choose just one, seriously look at my choices I could explain all day. Far Cry 2, Bioshock, Culdcept Saga, Shadows of the Damned, Sonic UGC, Catherine. Feel free to ask about any of my over enthusiastic praise for these games.
What's the best open world game on the 360?
-I can not deny myself of such a collaborative staff that made Dragons Dogma.
What's the best driving/racing game on the 360?
-I almost thought to myself none as I glared over the collection until I remembered I passed off my copy of Sonic & All Star Racing to my daughter.. Oops almost forgot about that one, both are super excellent on all consoles. As for any non kart racers I can't think of any that grabbed me personally but I know some exist. Also what's weird I have tons of PS1 games within the vast racing genre I love, funny how the I don't like as many now a days.
What was your favorite non-shmup shooting game (be it third person / first person / cover)?
-Saboteur with Saints Row Double Pack as the runner up.
Cheating with my picks again as I can't stick to just one favorite and not only that I throw a double pack in. Saboteur was a sleeper, now a gem and I feel people still haven't tried it!?! Read about, find a vid or buy a cheap copy, if you like solid third person, open world, interesting setting, unique etc and all that jazz then check it. Saints Row is a gangsta ass funny ass game, part 2 co-op is bananas from the very start.
What's the goriest FPS on 360?
-I'm gonna go ahead and give SAW as my non generic answer, there might not be alt of it but I felt both games were above decent little gems for those obscure horror collectors. However there are a lot of gory games on the system.
What 360 game do you think had the very best graphics?
-Definitely Halo 4 and Tales of Vesperia is gorgeous too!
What popular 360 game do you think was just pure crap?
-I'll tell you what maybe I'm jumping the gun but after numerous attempts and wanting to really like these, I'm gonna spew Gears of War and Assassins Creed.

Not sure how many of these are exclusives, but yeah check out Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, Resonance of Fate, Enchanted Arms, Magna Carta 2, and NIER.Xeogred wrote:What are the good JRPG's for the 360?
Probably Forza Horizon 2?Is there like one ultimate racing game on the 360? I keep hearing good stuff about Forza apparently.

I've derped around with a bunch of random 360 stuff lately. Various thoughts...
Call of Juarez = crap
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood = Really great, but I wasn't in the mood for pure FPS, so put it aside for now. I was impressed with the two hours I put in.
Bayonetta = It's DmC with a girl. Wasn't feeling it off the bat. Not a bad game though, I can tell it's solid. Just wasn't what I was looking for at the time.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag = Very awesome graphics and variety of gameplay. However, I had not played any of the previous Assassin's Creeds (outside the Vita one), and felt totally lost on the overall plot (Abstergo VR wtf) and background elements. So I put it aside for now. I'll play this series in order so I actually have a clue.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 = Put some hours into this co-op with my wife. It's "decent", but not exactly amazing. Solid tactical shooting yes, but it gets monotonous fairly quickly and hardly has any of the pizazz I was expecting given its setting.
L.A. Noire = Now we're talking. I put two and a half hours into this last night and was hooked. Extremely impressive all around. Pretty sure this is gonna be my jam for a good while.
