I'm trying to get into the first Advance Wars game, and ye gods that tutorial does... not... end. It's well done and I'd imagine it'd be super helpful if you've never played a tactical game like this before, but holy crap get on with it please

That and I've been trying to get perfect grades on every one of those sections. Each new section makes me want to play the real game less and less, because you're expected to remember so much stuff like terrain, advantages/disadvantages, fuel, movement, who's good against what, CO abilities. I know it's a strategy game but I thought it wouldn't be so complicated. If I ever get to the main game I'll probably have my *** handed to me six ways from Sunday.

I also stupidly got Battalion Wars and Days of Ruin on the DS -_-

Yeah we're not exactly talking about the Europa Universalis series here.

I actually enjoyed Famicom Wars and Game Boy Wars more than Advance Wars. They may have been a tad simpler, but the pacing was so much better.

I don't think it's really something I'm interested in playing through, though. Maybe if the music were a little more consistently good. It's a nice looking game, for the most part, anyway. Apparently that author was as unimpressed with Vixen as I was; particularly about the length of attack sequences, and how they can't be skipped.

I meant to thank you days ago for this rundown on Vixen 357. Thanks for the information and mini-review. I'm less bummed it's not in English now.

I've got bad news for you: Advanced Wars is on the less complicated side of strategy games.

I would expect that, as it was a Nintendo take on a serious genre. But just to hear someone else going through the difficulties like me.... that goes back to the "do you have to be a perfectionist in gaming" argument, really. When it comes to those games I really should just dial it down and enjoy winning/losing. I really want to like this series!

I'm almost 60 hours into Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, and I'm only like halfway through the game. X_x I do, however, have every character to level 99, every available weapon for every character maxed out at least once, all of the side quests available by the start of Chapter 5 finished, all of the random requests available by that stage either finished or started, almost 4,000,000 yen in the bank, and every costume available so far purchased along with every lottery poster and two of Tiki's super-rare AR costumes. I've also go almost every dungeon I've been to so far fully explored and looted.

So I've not been COMPLETELY wasting my time....just going minorly completionist on this game (which is odd since those of you who know my gaming habits know that I am NOT a completionist by any stretch of the imagination).

So what is it about this game that's making you put in the extra effort? Is grinding super convenient here?

Pathetically so if you buy the $4 Grinding for Dummies DLC (I bought everything available on impulse day one because I was so hyped for the game). It's mostly that it takes everything I love about the Persona series complete with dark themed story, puts a bright and cheerful facade on it, and throws in some of my all-time favorite Fire Emblem characters in place of the typical Megami Tensei demons. Maybe it's also because I'm just so thrilled to have a genuinely fantastic third party JRPG on the Wii U, let alone an exclusive.

I was going to ask how the hell you managed to cap your level (I'm midway through chapter 5 and my main party is in the low to mid 50s) and then I saw you had the experience DLC.
