Well, any movie with Scarlett Johansson is worth watching as far as I'm concerned.

The world has lost a legendary filmmaker today.

Yeah so I watched Deadpool last night. I did not expect to like it. I was wrong, and had a good time. Yes, some of the humor is overly juvenile, but for the most part, I found this film to be legit funny. I especially enjoyed seeing a superhero movie that wasn't afraid of getting the naughty naughty R rating, and therefore didn't feel watered down for the PG-13 masses. At any rate this was the first superhero film I've seen since 2012's Dredd which I truly enjoyed. If all superhero movies had this much verve and heart I'd be way more into the genre.

Hopefully they don't screw it up with half assed sequels
. Deadpool 2 is supposed to be coming next year.

Likewise, I didn't expect to like Deadpool. What a flipping awesome movie. I was genuinely impressed.Exhuminator wrote:Yeah so I watched Deadpool last night. I did not expect to like it. Here's the problem. The movie execs don't understand why this movie was so great. They're goning to disreguard the great script and the originality, and simply look at the R rating and the return on investment.Fragems wrote:Hopefully they don't screw it up with half assed sequels. Just wait for a bunch of bland R-rated sequels to popular superhero films now. Fox has already announced that the next Wolverine solo film will be rated R. They never bother to write a good script for a solo Wolverine movie, but they're darn sure going to copy that R rating.
Maybe the studios will dust off other R rated superheros like Punisher, Blade, Spawn, Judge Dredd, or Robocop for another outing. One problem: Those franchises already have records of lackluster box office receipts. No doubt at least one of these franchises will get a reboot (or asecond reboot in some cases).
James Gunn wrote a telling facebook post about this:

Have you seen this?
Patrick Stewart singing cowboy songs! Yeah I know this isn't a movie, but seeing him all done up as a cowboy makes me think of Yul Brynner. Makes me want to see a western with Sir Patrick, seems like it would be pretty legit.

Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.
