When will there we wireless monitors?

So with the way technology is going everything is wireless these days. Mice, Keyboards, speakers etc.

When are we going to see our wireless monitors? I wouldn't mind it to clean up the computer space even more.

Of course there is still the problem with a power cord.....

I think it'll be 2 or 3 years at least. A VGA signal is uncompressed RGB at usually 60+hz. That's a lot of data to be sent through wires even. There's also latency/lag issues to take into account. When it does it won't be cheap for a long time either.

Considering the crap speed wireless USB is getting right now something like VGA that needs a constant instant high-bandwidth signal like that is not possible through consumer hardware yet.

If you have a 1600x1080x32bit display, that's 55296000 bits or 6.6MB on the screen at once. Refresh that 60 times a second, and you're looking at 395.5 MB/s uncompressed. That's over 3 gigabits per second. Not a chance of that happening wireless any time soon.

theres too much crap in the airwaves as it is. every time i'm hooking up someones TV at work they always say "I cant wait 'till all this is wireless" or "when will this all be wireless". I always just cringe, and bite my tongue, because there's no way in hell i want all my stuff to be wireless. think of the hell of trying to get everyone's TV working in an apartment complex... my brain hurts already.
