Sonic Shuffle (DreamCast)
I was expecting a bad Mario Party clone coming into this game and I was still disappointed. The storyline is utterly atrocious and just the worse sugary garbage you can imagine. The act of playing the game is really boring. With cards instead of dice, you can actually watch the computer screw you over and over again. The mini-games are not exciting and considering you cannot practice before it, you loose before you even know what to do. Yeah, it is a pretty bad game.

Prepare to be mind freaked: Sonic Shuffle and Mario Party were both developed by Hudson Soft.

Additionally, Sonic Shuffle was co-developed by Hudson Soft with Sonic Team.
And yet the game still sucked.

That is crazy. I had no idea. Wow! Amazing how one developer can make two entirely different games in the same genre.Exhuminator wrote:Additionally, Sonic Shuffle was co-developed by Hudson Soft with Sonic Team.

And, let's add another one:
Hydro Thunder (DreamCast)
I liked this game. The boats feel wonderful. The secrets are easy to find and make it worthwhile to seek out. The playing of the game is actually really enjoyable, but...
Dear God, this game is not messing around. I beat the 3 Easy Tracks without any difficulty. I tried the first Normal track and could never beat it. I played that damn 90 second track for over an hour. Nothing. You have to be perfect, get every boost and every shortcut to even stand a chance. And that is on Normal. I still have Hard and the Extra tracks to do. It's fun, but no thanks. I concede defeat.

Rhythm Heaven Fever (Wii)
This game is so great! I went in not really expecting to like it, since I thought the original Rhythm Heaven was too unforgiving and not very fun. This game fixes basically every problem I had with the original. The timings are WAY more forgiving, so I was able to play more than half of the levels before I just wasn't good enough to play more. Compared to where I could only play the first couple levels of the original, I see this as a huge accessibility improvement. As with most rhythm games though, it does eventually come down to "get gud, or get out," and I had to get out Xp
The music is sooo good and fun to play to though! Like, EVERY song made me think, "I should get the MP3 of this!" My personal favorite is Ringside (I think it's level 16), it's the one with the reporter and the wrestler. POSE FOR THE FANS!!!
Verdict: A great rhythm game on Wii, and a fantastic update of the original. This is exactly how a sequel to a rhythm game should be. If you can find it for a tenner like I did, I'd say it's worth picking up just to giggle away a few hours to silly animations and fun music.

I thought this too, but then I found out otherwise. The real problem is latency. If your HDTV has even a smidge of latency, you are gonna have a bad time. Especially on the monkey watch segment. When I switched to a new HDTV with less latency, suddenly I was magically better at Rhythm Heaven Fever. Huh.PartridgeSenpai wrote:Rhythm Heaven Fever (Wii)

Great game though, love it to bits. And I don't usually care for cutesy games much.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (360)
I saw this for a dollar at Gamestahp today, and thought "why the hell not?" I've heard enough moaning about how laughably horrible it is, so I thought I'd give it a shot, and I was not lied to. They don't even try to set up a story, therefore totally piss away the cool concept (which I suppose Wolfenstein New Order gave a proper treatment). The AI is totally brain dead and runs right out from cover at you, but the aiming is so jittery and hard to use that it doesn't really matter. Your regening health is so freaking crazy you almost have to try to die to normal stuff, but that won't stop environmental stuff you couldn't even see from killing you and setting you back to a very unforgiving checkpoint (like 10 minutes+ apart). The animations are awful as well, with all of the running looking very jilted and choppy with very few frames.
The ONLY good thing I can say about it is that it doesn't look awful. For a 2008 360 game, it could look a lot worse, but it's certainly nothing award worthy.
For a dollar, it was worth the laugh (even if I'm probably returning it because I don't want to keep it Xp).

Dropped:
1. Fear Effect 2 (PSX)
2. Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z (PS3)

Shit.
It's terrible.
Thanks for the perspective Yaiba, Devil's Third is a 10/10 next to dooky like this. In fact I'm sorry Devil's Third, I shouldn't even mention you in the same sentence.
Played and beat the first level. That was enough. I want my $9 back.

I'm glad I didn't take a chance on that one.

Joke within a literal minute or so into it. This game was apparently a product of /b/. I went in expecting bad and knew it would be very far detached from Ninja Gaiden, and best treated as a random one off shot, but wow. Seems appallingly bad. HLTB shows an average 6 hours for a full run but I could barely finish the first level.
Comcept, Spark Unlimited, and Team Ninja are all tied to it, but I obviously don't think Team Ninja put a cent into it's production and it was more than likely mostly done by Spark Unlimited because of this track record...

Granted it sucks they closed and all, but this isn't a good resume. Lost Planet 3 wasn't terrible but also another one I couldn't finish and just lost interest in, a poor man's Dead Space and a bad departure from the first two.
