It's coming or even better it's almost finally here...
If you're at the Too Many Games convention this weekend in Philadelphia you can pre-order the new GBA Everdrive. Otherwise it goes up for pre-order via SAG on July 1 for $99. I'm sure Krikzz and retrogate will be selling it, at lower prices, in due time as well.

This has been my most wanted ED for years and to see it finally happening is very exciting. Now I'm hoping someone is creating one for the GameCube with a solution similar to what's being done on the PS1/Saturn/Dreamcast.

That's not likely to happen any time soon since the Wii can load GCN games from a HDD or SD card without any hardware modifications.

If you must have a GCN solution though, you can use a WiiKey Fusion (or similar) on one.

Wooo! $100. That was what I was hoping to see given the prices on his other handheld devices. So perfect a choice his quality work, then throw GOOMBA+GOOMBA COLOR at your old GB and GBC collection, and you have one solitary rock solid krikzz piece of work that runs the entire bloody Gameboy tagged library for a $100.

Cool thing is I have that 32GB microsd card I pulled from my New3DS before I sold it and put the old 4 back into it. :D

My GameCube is hooked up and my Wii isn't but I also have no idea how to mod the Wii either. The instructions on doing so aren't complicated, according to folks, but they look Greek or some other language to me. I just don't get it and my old dying Mac doesn't help. Anything more then loading ROMS on an SD card is advanced to me.

What is WiiKey Fusion? I looked it up and it requires soldering and modding so I'm not going to accomplish that. I also can't quite figure out what it's supposed to do.

The first thing you have to do is install the Homebrew Channel on your Wii. Installing the HBC is as simple as this: Put some files on an SD card, put the SD card in your Wii, turn your Wii on and go to the message center, click on a message and BOOM the HBC is now installed on your Wii.

The HBC will let you launch homebrew apps from an SD card, so once you have it installed your pretty much good to go. All you have to do is download some apps and put them on your SD card. For example, an app that'll let you launch GCN games from an SD card or HDD.

It's all rather simple. But I understand what you mean, it isn't always super clear when you Google it. If you ever want to try it, just post a thread on RB for help. I'm sure plenty of people will jump in and help you get it done.

Or... Ask a friend to do it for you. Hell, a Wii is pretty small and light. It wont cost much to ship it out to someone to do it for you.

The WiiKey Fusion was a solderless modchip for the Wii. It allows you to boot burned DVDs from the Wii's disc drive and load games from an SD card (it came with it's own SD card slot, you couldn't use the Wii's SD card slot). It used the GCN mode in the Wii to work, and that's why it works with an actual GCN. But yeah, it requires a lot of soldering to install it in a GCN.

Yeah, wii softmodding seems a little daunting at 1st, but is pretty simple now.
What gets a little tricky is installing an ios to run actual wii games.
For some reason, I wasn't able to figure out running Gamecube games until I was able to run Wii images (where ios comes into play)
"Nintendont" is supposed to run without messing with ios crap.
I have a good tutorial to link when you are ready for that ;)

Also, they can be fickle about hard drives (like mine doesn't work well in one of my Wii's but fine on the other). But stick to flash drives and SD cards and there should be no trouble.

But it all starts with "please hackmii".

I actually got a no-solder-required version of the WiiKey fusion for my GCN from badassconsoles.com -- his MegaDrive v4. He only makes them in very limited quantities - it took me almost a year to get mine - but it was a very easy screwdriver-only install.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't even used it yet though  Not sure if I can just put in an SD and have it load or what.

Too many systems, too little time (kinda like how I'm supposed to try out my LynxSD and write up a review...)
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
Chronically out of date BST thread

Wow, that Megadrive Gamecube adapter looks neat.

You need a mod chip to take advantage of it though, yes? (the $100 option has one incorporated?).

Booting directly from SD card is what makes that interesting for me.
Basically, I want a use for my Gamecube when the drive dies one day (that and it would be neat to boot gba games without needing to change for the GBP disc.

Well here goes.
Right now I have everdrives for nes,snes,n64,and Genesis.
I get burned games for my dreamcast from my neighborhood buddy mile and have had games done from skate
My Saturn I fully went the import route and get games when I see them cheap
Now I have the ps2, Xbox 360, Atari 7800, and the 3ds which are the only systems I want to buy physical copies.
My last system is my red Wii......
So can someone please hack and mod my Wii for me!!!!!
I have no one near me who can mod it and my buddy is too lazy to go thru all that again. I remember he had an external hard drive and had a ton of Wii games like the newer super Mario bros and punch out etc. he maybe had like 50 games and all the wiiware and vc and some arcade.
I would like that. Can someone please help out. I will pay for parts and labor. Thanks
