IMO, anyone who considers herself a fan of 2D platformers must play through Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. They are both fantastic.

Also, Rayman 2 is another very solid 3D platformer.

The first Jak and Daxter was a pretty short experience. I sat down one day on the couch, started it up, and then got up a few hours later with 100% completion. I own but do not like the first Maximo game. Something about it feels terribly off to me for some reason. I'm a little surprised not to see folks bring up the Banjo games though. I thought they were held in universal regard.

Definitely looking forward to another go at SK; Spectre Knight looks pretty awesome and Ninja Gaiden-y.

I like how they are very upfront about the various choices. Not "an exploration based platformer with backtracking as you gain new abilities"; a Metroid.

No joke, I'd kind of love for them to do something like Mario. Everybody and their dog is attempting Metroidvania and other stuff thesedays. A simple and effect platformer would be a nice idea right now instead.
