Is that each episode being constant fighting? Because that's what the Frieza battle was. One giant series of one-on-one fights at one specific spot on Namek, which fighters changing out as Frieza took each one out.Xeogred wrote:The current arc in One Piece makes me want to say nobody is ever allowed to make fun of Namek and the Freeza battle again.![]()
Think Dressrosa is close to like 200 episodes...

I love Dragon Ball! I haven't seen Super but I watched the entire original series, Z, and GT, along with a fair number of the movies.Sano wrote:It has probably been talked about already, but there are 300 pages to go through to find out. In any case, who else is a Dragon Ball fan? Do you like the new Dragon Ball Super? Do you think GT is any good? I personally like all of them but the original Dragon Ball. I just couldn't get into it. It isn't bad by any means, I just prefer Z, Super, and GT. I know GT isn't really considered canon, but I enjoy it. What are your guys opinion on Dragon Ball?
Original Dragon Ball is definitely my favorite of the series. The tone is consistently fun and never feels as dragged out as Z. To me, the best parts of Z are when it reminds you of how much fun original DB is.
I'd rank GT as "optional" - while I didn't like it, I'm glad I saw it just so I could experience the low-point of the series. If nothing else, it's SHORT and it's WEIRD.
The dub really does change the tone pretty dramatically. In Japan, DBZ is more of a parody of shonen with heavy doses of ridiculousness throughout the series and most of that lightheartedness gets lost in the dub. I'm a fan of Japanese audio 100%.Xeogred wrote:I could talk this threads ears off about it. lol, but what I wish is for more awareness around this series, that it is the Funimation dub that created it's "constipated" legacy. It's the dub that probably triples the script, throwing in so much painful and useless dialogue around every corner, then everyone is constipated, Goku comes off as a pacifist bitch when in Japanese he's actually just as much, if not more selfish than Vegeta and LIVES TO FIGHT. How could they mess that up so bad haha. I can never go back.

It's mostly one on one fights where a single fight can last 5-10+ episodes due to the focus switching between 5+ characters all of which are fighting their own battle or running about the city randomly. As I mentioned a few pages back there is 5-10 episode stretch where they show the same 1-2 minute clip of luffy sitting in a room getting his ass beat by a guy bouncing off the walls because he refuses to fight. The biggest issue is the episodes are 23-24 minutes long but 5-6 minutes of that are blown on the opening song, general intro, then the previous episode recap then there is a lot of padding within the episodes as well so the story progresses insanely slow. They could easily condense the 118 episode arc into probably 30-40 episodes if not less.MrPopo wrote:Is that each episode being constant fighting? Because that's what the Frieza battle was. I've been out of the anime loop for a spell. Have there been any new VR anime out in the last few months?

That Anime is called "Black Lagoon".
Also, I'm surprised that kids still make anime music videos. I thought that was a 2004 phenomena. At least this one has no Linkin Park.
Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
Yeah that's Black Lagoon it's a pretty solid action anime. It can get pretty dark and depressing at times though.

Black Lagoon is awesome, both seasons, and the crazy OVA.

I'm still watching my way through The Woman Called Jujiko Mine. I love it. Just haven't had much time for anime lately. Been a crazy year.

Ugh Black Lagoon, been waiting for more for YEARS! I hope they continue it eventually. I wasn't too hot on the OVA, focused a lot on lame characters to me.
