Any good WWII games that have you fighting Japan?

Only ones I can remember:

I beat the first one co-op many years ago, it was decent fun in co-op. It didn't take place entirely in Japan, but the pacific theater against the Japanese.

Never played the second one.

What? I kid, I kid. Pacific Assault has some problems in my opinion. I found that going back to replay levels sometimes deleted my progress, and the AI is pretty poor at times. You could track down a copy of the Medal of Honor 10th Anniversary if you want. It has the Director's Cut of Pacific Assault as well as Allied Assault, the expansions, and Airborne. Oh, and a soundtrack CD.

The only ones I can think of are MoH Rising Sun and Pacific Assault. I've played both. RS was okay, and PA was good but.... I went back to my thoughts and feelings and found Ack's opinion on it, what he and I said in 2014:

I really didn't like Pacific Assault. The squad AI felt terrible, and I recall the saving feature being bugged and more than once deleting my medals from levels when I went back to replay them. The game felt like a mess, and while I'm all for using video games as a patriotic outlet, at times PA is sappier than a maple tree.

In my report for this game over in the Games Beaten thread, I made mention of the terrible squad AI. Tarawa (the final level) is tough enough without everyone dropping dead in your way as you're trying to snipe the machine gun emplacements all over the place. I was also not a fan of the makeshift command system they tried there either. It never worked right. I ended up having to literally shoot or pistol whip my squadmates because they were blocking me in the tight spaces.

Furthermore, I reported in 2014 in that year's Games Beaten thread:

The load times were rather unbearable, but the better graphics and overall experience made up for that. I liked the movie-style cutscenes and story, and instead of going alone as in previous MOH games, you had a squad with you at all times (even if they got in your way and yelled a lot of stuff every ten seconds), including a corpsman who was the only way you could be easily healed as opposed to picking up medpacks and canteens. Enemy AI was greatly increased, as the Japanese would resort to banzai-style attacks in which they would charge straight at you. There was even a scene where you piloted a Dauntless bomber, which I really liked as I'm a fan of WWII aircraft. There's too much to like not to recommend this.

As I said, give it a try, but I'm finding CoD WaW the best Pacific fighting experience so far, even if it's only 50% of the game.

EDIT: Pseudo-ninja'd by Ack's new thoughts, but for a historical perspective I'm keeping his 2014 quote here. Also yeah, I've got that 10th anniversary package. Best way to experience the early PC MoH games.

I beat CoD: Black Ops last night, and I'm glad it's over.

Taking a break from CoD/MoH FPS for a minute. But I'll probably blow through Airborne once it gets here.

played more COD. I did get through the dam mission (British campaign) and moved on to the truck ride. Gawd, I really hate those sections in COD games where you are riding in a vehicle and shooting stuff around you. Meh. I think the game is really pretty great beyond those parts, but I still have a few more British missions left before I get to what is apparently a very lengthy Russian campaign. Really doubt I'll be able to bang it out before the end of the month.

I made a final push between last night and this evening and finished off Allied Assault.

The whole game was a treat, start to finish, though Mission 6 stands as my favorite, I think. I'm definitely going to hit the expansion packs, and later on Pacific Assault.

This was a good month for TR. These are both series that I made it a point to avoid over the years, but I had such a good time with these two games and I'm happy I gave them a chance.
