Bad Chinese Bootleg Games

Post by ElkinFencer10 »

So I've been watching some of JonTron's videos lately, and it made me realize that I've actually had a really hard time finding bootleg games online. I'm not talking about reproductions being passed off as legit - those are all too easy to find. I'm talking about Titenic on Famicom, the creepy Pikachu Sonic clone on (I think) SNES, the Mega Drive Desert Storm game where you play as Bush Sr and beat the shit out of "Saddam Insane," the Mega Drive 2003 Iraq invasion game where W. Bush is the villain, the Harry Potter NES game, etc.

I've found some of the popular, well made bootlegs and hacks - Final Fantasy VII on NES, Somario, Zelda Outlands, etc. It's the hilariously shitty Chinese bootlegs that I want but have had almost zero success finding save for the shitty "10 Trillion in 1" carts. Any suggestions?

Yup pastel Gundam makes any thread fabulous. ;)

Seriously though, aliexpress and dumb luck on ebay short of a forum seller with those unique bootlegs would be about it I'd think without branching into some other asian centric site you'd need a broker for like yahoo japan.

That is not a bootleg. That is a legitimate, albeit unlicensed, NES game:

Also...if you search for "famiclone" on eBay, you will turn up a ton of bootlegs...

Actually it's not a surely, it's a definitely. I remember thumbing around there in maybe April/May and I saw the FF7 title among quite a few others including some dead pan 1:1 quality ripoffs of Little Samson for around $20 using new parts boards and all. I was actually pleased to see that thing getting kicked in the teeth while looking at the going rate on that 150-in-1 people like to up charge to $40-50 on ebay for.

I was browsing eBay just a few minutes ago (I seriously had no idea that all I had to search for was "famiclone," damn), and I've decided I'll probably buy a "bad" bootleg game once a month, just for the lulz. The first once (once I pay off my moving debt) is definitely going to be "Turtle Ninjas 5." The villain is "Dr. Killmenow," and they turtles legit just look like zombies.

Did not know you were that clueless to the power of that one word famiclone. It's a thing and has been a very very long time. Only the most shady or unknowing of the bunch there don't mark bootlegs or screwball terrible chinese hacks as such.

That one is actually just the NES game Toxic Crusaders slapped onto a Famicom cart and the title screen changed. So not exactly what you're looking for.

You can find lots of bootlegs of NES-exclusive games for the Famicom this way. Usually their cover art is worthy to look at on their own. Like Kick Master might have art of Jim Carrey's The Mask on it. It's amazing.
