nintendo game & watch - owned/played one?

Post by grittykitty »

when i was in kindergarten i got a legend of zelda game watch for xmas. i played it a lot since i don't think i had the zelda game yet. unfortunately it went haywire one day (all the icons appeared on screen and it start beeping like crazy), and i was freaked out/annoyed, so i threw it on the floor and set it outside, you know, to put it into time out  it never worked after that, so i probably threw it away. ah, stupid mistakes of our youth.
soon after (or before? can't remember) i had a game where mario had to catch the falling birdo eggs. i played this one a little bit, but it was nowhere near as cool as zelda. no idea what happened to it.
my friend in 3rd grade had a super mario world game watch that i used to bug him to let me borrow, especially on school field trips. we had a falling out in 4th grade, so i have no clue as to the fate of the watch.
in japan there were tons and tons of game and watch units (few watches though) in osaka's den den town, but the prices were unholy: ranging in the several hundred dollar area.
a few years ago i saw some new-age nintendo keychain games for about 6 bucks at a store, but never played one. wonder if it's any good...

I own a Donkey Kong Jr. game and watch, it was on of those that came with a mirror for you to look at instead of the actual screen, I think it says panoramic screen or panoramic view too.

I have an original Mario's Cement Factory, and my bro has Donkey Kong Jr. I think that my dad got them for us as a souvenir from London one time (?). It's always a big thing whenever they run out of batteries and we have to go on the hunt for a store that carries the right size...

I thought it was cool how the Donkey Kong Game & Watch looks like a DS, probably inspired by the old game and watch. But no, I've never touched one.

I bought a Donkey Kong game&watch from a car boot sale the other week for about £5 and was amazed at how addictive it was- it was like being 7 years old again- great fun :D

I have little gameboy-esque remakes of DKjr, Octopus, and mario's cement factory. I've always wanted to buy the zelda one. They actually have some remakes of the two screen games like zelda and DK now. I saw them in a thinkgeek catalog I believe.

a buddy of mine has one--i think it's bomberman. he got it off ebay from a guy in thailand for about $15. i never even heard of them until he got it. i must say it was pretty fun for the 5 minutes he let me play it.

When I was in Switzerland we had a "Ludothek" (game rental place). I don't think I ever got to rent any, but I did play a few - Octopus, Donkey Kong, that fire rescue one... maybe one or two more.

Ive owned a couple, but for the life of me I have no idea where they are. I also have part of the Nintendo Watch collection from the early 90s, Tetris and Mario - that Zelda has always eluded me...
