So what have you guys been watching lately?

Pretty sure you two are in the minority opinion on Jessica Jones, which makes you the weirdos.

just to be clear, you watched one episode and knew nothing of the characters from the comics, right?

I own literally thousands of video games; so, I am OK if people call me a weirdo. They are probably right.

I've been tempted as well, but there's just something... off about it. It's a very different show from the normal superhero fare, and it's also rather dark and depressing. Not that Daredevil isn't, but this show seems to embrace its sort of depression and wallows in a sort of depravity and misery that I don't enjoy in any of my entertainment.

Well folks, now we know the answer to how Sarge feels about Russian literature.

I must admit I haven't read any, but from what I know of some of it, you're probably right. ;)

Sarge, that does turn around a bit, finally, in like episode 8, I think. There is a little ray of hope, and that ray of hope makes the series suddenly more watchable.

My feelings about the early part of the show is that the acting and writing are fantastic, that it is truly a quality production, but that it can be so heavy and hopeless that it isn't always very entertaining to watch. One of those cases of being able to recognize the quality but unable to enjoy it. But once you get that ray of hope suddenly the entire thing pivoted for me and it all fell into place, and my enjoyment finally arrived. The resolution feels very cathartic as well.

I think if you know the backstory you'd appreciate the show a lot more. This is an excellent show. We binged 3 eps last night and had a hard time turning it off - despite work in 5 hours.
