alright so the RE7 trailer looks insanely good.

I'm sure some folks are not pleased w/ it going in a first person direction, but I'm cool with that. It looks pretty damn scary.

Just checked the link, I'm down with the perspective. I see there is quite a few dislikes but in reality the game has been through the ringer with its traditional perspective so the change should be a good thing. Already getting a vibe that this may quench the PT thirst since I had no faith in Allisons Road or other imitators.

For anyone on the fence with first person RE I would suggest playing through previous entries and by then you probably would appreciate the change, something fresh and new for the franchise. I'm actually excited the trailer looked like a return to horror having a dark dreadful tone/setting with very nice RE feel which is what will set it apart.

I'm actually pretty pumped for this. I'm really hoping the VR isn't a Rift exclusive or BS like that. If it works w/ OSVR, then I'll be checking it out (and scaring the hell out of myself). For all the flack that the series as a whole gets, one of the things that I admire is that the games have no fear of trying vastly different dynamics be it the stalking Nemesis in 2, the action of 4, the co-op of 5, the character switching of 0, the episodic nature of Revelations 2, the squads in Op Racoon City, and so on. It seems like as much as we can point to RE1 or RE4 and say "This is MY version of what an RE game is," Capcom themselves don't necessarily feel like the series has to remain adhering to any one vision or genre. For better or worse, I find this commendable.

Also I love that it's called Resident Evil VII and not just "Resident Evil."

I was always fascinated with Resident Evil since the PlayStation and entering that mansion has to be one of gaming greatest moments and it remained great throughout with all that mystery in a great setting!

As far as trying new things is great for hardcore fans to enjoy a great franchise in different ways, in the long run RE has a great legacy and each game has redeeming qualities for the most part.

I'm irked about RE7. I'm all for a new direction, but don't call it RE7 then. It's about as weird as FF MMO's being part of the main line. Yeah, there's been some changes along the lines, but this is way more dramatic.

I guess it's hard for Capcom to comprehend what we simply want is RE1-4-esque stuff again. Keep the guns and silly B-grade X-Files plots, just turn up the atmosphere again and take it more seriously. Bringing back Wesker would be great too, because T-virus nanomachines or something.

Plus the series has been dicking around giving us god awful new characters on the side, when they need to give us the ultimate combos of Chris, Jill, Claire, Ada, and Leon. Those are the only characters that matter and they don't need to keep feeding us more.

Right when I was feeling optimistic about Capcom again... I just... wtf Capcom.

I like Rebecca, too.

I can agree with you that it would have made more sense to make a first game a non-numbered entry. But regardless of the title, I am quite excited about this game.

Yeah, she's cool. And prison dude, whatever his name was.

I am excited and interested, but if this is a completely random side story thing, reboot, or with a bunch of new characters, I don't know.

I was more hopeful from a few years back when Capcom cited that Last of Us would maybe be an influence on the series future.

RE7 looks sweet! Might be actually horror for once, instead of just mildly creepy in spots with some jump scares.
