Haha, I guess you have your answer then! But yeah, fun game. I recommend it to the action RPG fans here. Unless you are colorblind.

It could definitely use a fan re-translation, the story/dialog is pretty funny as is but it could stand to be spruced up a bit

That being said, they were the same dev, so they may have been being a bit self-referential.

Technically, 7th Saga and Mystic Ark aren't part of a series, either, they just share similar themes and some characters.

I'd say that The 7th Saga, Mystic Ark, and Mystic Ark: Maboroshi Gekijo comprise a very loose "trilogy."

Brain Lord is kinda tangentially related - same developer, similar themes and presentation.

After only discovering that these things existed recently I finally got hold of one today:

Image

It came with 3 games, which I've since researched to find out are SD Gundam Generations 1, 3 and 5. After initially getting nothing but a blank screen I busted out the old q tips and rubbing alcohol and soon had it running on my Pokefami DX

Image

The immediate drawbacks of doing so on this portable SNES being twofold: (1) It's a very tight fit and I initially panicked that it was stuck in the system.I realised that because it has the two extra bits of circuit board it simply needs some gentle left and right easing to get it back out again. (2) It's shaped such that it leaves only a small gap covering the headphone/AV out socket which will require either an L shaped out jack to get around. For now I'm stuck playing it without headphones and only on the small screen.

The three games seem to be 3 differing variations or episodes of the same game engine. They are top down strategy games featuring the SD Gunam robots and spaceships.

Despite the heavy Japanese I was able to figure out how to move, attack, load and unload my mothership and shoot. I've heard that these games were meant for kids so that might explain why I was able to play them with relative enjoyment despite having forgotten all of the Japanese I used to know.

Image

I've no idea what the link-up feature does between the games. There's precious little info on these games online.

I don't know if I'll buy any more games for the system since there are only about 13 and some can get quite pricey but it was a neat little inexpensive curio to pick up and play with.

Unfortunately that's one of the pricier ones. In terms of price it seems to go

Gundam = $
Ultraman = $$
Other licenses = $$$
Power Rangers = $$$$

A shame as I find the carts aesthetically pleasing and I would have collected them otherwise.

Made it farther than i've ever been in Super Ghouls and Ghosts tonight...not that it's really that far. We had this game when I was growing up but I was terrible at it. This game really requires the patience of a saint.

After I was done with that, I decided to ease my mind with a gran prix in super mario kart.
