Well, Thor sets up the villain for Avengers, so you kinda need Thor.

Because any movie that sends Shatner into the final frontier can't be all that bad, right?

Yes, that's exactly what happens. Never take him on a flight anywhere, trouble seems to follow him.

Yeah, chief, you gotta watch Dead Alive. It is awesome. The climax was so gory, there are supposedly still blood stains on the ceiling of the studio it was filmed in. It is the best intro to Australian and New Zealand horror in my opinion.

yeah Dead Alive is brilliant. I had Bad Taste though. It is one of only two movies to every make me physically gag. Like, thought I was gonna be legit sick. (The other was Suicide Club.)

My wife and I cleared out the horror section of a video store going out of biz a decade ago. Our horror VHS collection grew by about 100 titles. Most were ones we never heard of.

But uh... I saw the new Turtles movie. Am I seriously the only one on the board so far? I wanna talk Turtles.

I'm waiting for DVD or Netflix on this one. I love Ninja Turtles, but I hate Michael Bay... so there's that. We can talk turtles in general if you like. I'll drop by the dedicated Ninja Turtles thread later on.

How 'bout Marvel movies? Have you watched Thor and Captain America: The first Avenger yet? Or have you and the wife skipped to Avengers?

we don't have Thor or First Avenger yet, so we've been holding off on The Avengers. For now anyway. We do have plenty of other Marvel movies to watch in the meantime, though that one is pretty high on the want-to-watch list.

I didn't know what to expect w/ Guardians. I know it got glowing reviews, but I knew nothing of the comics. When it started, I felt mixed. I was thinking "hmm... sort of Last Starfighter, sort of Star Wars..." but once Thanos was introduced I perked up. Infinity Gem? Yes! Shit got awesome. Rocket was so badass. By the end of the movie my wife and I were like "this is awesome! Can't wait for the sequel!" and the post-credits cameo was BRILLIANT.

Obviously the straight-to-DVD Hellraiser films are not known for being as good as the earlier entries, back when the series was in the hands of Clive Barker (1 and 2), before Barker became less involved (3 and 4), with part 5 (Inferno) being the first to go straight-to-DVD.

But you gotta appreciate their attempts at doing something new, especially after 3 and 4 basically bastardized Pinhead into a standard slasher villain. Here, much like in the other post-Bloodline Hellraiser films, Pinhead is a less prevalent character while still being one of the most important characters.
