That gives me an immense amount of hope for EDF 4.1.noiseredux wrote:holy crap, an Onechanbara game just showed up on Steam.

So removing the modchip seems to have tentatively fixed things; it's actually recognizing disks now. I'll have to figure out a new way to play the SFIII translations.MrPopo wrote:So to do that I should just remove the chip, reinsert the ribbon cable where the chip was, and start things up?Sarge wrote:So it doesn't try to spin at all? That's what mine was doing, but it wasn't the system itself that died, it was the modchip. I'd start the system up, and it'd go to the CD player screen and say "Checking Disc Format" for a bit before just giving up.
Before just tossing it, I'd consider opening it up and seeing if legit games will work while the mod chip is bypassed. That's what I did to discover it was indeed the chip.

SSF is a little sketch for the Camelot games, it makes one of the instruments off-key. It ruins the soundtrack.
Sorry I missed your question earlier, MrPopo. Sounds like you had the exact same problem I did.

Ah! Yeah I remember running into that with Shining The Holy Ark while playing it on SSF. One instrument was wacky and out of tune. I remember getting it to sound better by messing with the sound settings in SSF. I'll have to have a crack at SF3 with various versions of SSF and mess with the sound settings, just to see if there's any way to make it sound correctly.Sarge wrote:SSF is a little sketch for the Camelot games, it makes one of the instruments off-key. I think it's a problem in the emulation core. I hope there's still some active work being done on SSF, because it really is an amazing emulator. It's come so far from the olden days of Saturn emulation.

Yeah SSF may have qualms with this or that game, but for the most part, it's a kickass emulator and has let me play through quite a few Saturn games without any major issues.
