I heard he wrote that about his dog mandy, no jokeMrPopo wrote:The night goes into morning
Just another day
Happy people pass my way
Looking in their eyes
I see a memory
I never realized
How happy you made me
Oh Mandy
Well you came
And you gave
Without taking
But I sent you away
Oh Mandy
When you kissed me
And stopped me
From shaking
And I need you today
Oh Mandy
Music I've been listening to lately.

Caninus has dogs as vocalist no jokedeathred wrote:Barry Manilow, that's what my in-laws listen to in their car.
And I read somewhere that GWAR plays under the name RAWG when they do shows without their cool get-ups and their stage show.
Some death-metal vocals become a bit too repetitive. I once heard about a band who exploited that whole "death-metal' vocals and made it into something really ridiculous: they had a dog bark for vocals. Sad to say, it sounded just as good as any death metal vocalist a la Chris Barnes.
If you want some vocal changes in death-metal, try Akercocke, and Opeth. Some of the newer Opeth stuff is highly proggy and not really death-metal.

Thats the band!
When I first heard of them, I swear that I thought it was Mortician.
And you'll understand death metal vocals as soon as you read the lyrics. hehe. You'll be like "Ooooo... thats what he is saying."

once you're familiar with a certain type of vocal styling it's not hard to pick up on certain words. if you're only used to listening to harry connick jr. then someone plays you immortal then of course you're gonna be like "what's he so mad about?"

I can't figure out how the Death Metal vocalists can perform more than once a month.

Thats crazy because here, where he is from, he barely gets any play. More than half of the people I know never heard of him. Thats nuts that he is popular on the west coast but relatively unknown here.IcKy99 wrote:DAY AND NIGHT, they play that song NONSTOP on LA's biggest hip hop station power106. i hear it atleast 4 times a daySpaceBooger wrote:I am currently listening to a local dude from Cleveland - Kid Cudi

Most metal vocalists, not just death metal, end up having throat cancer or over throat problems.
I listen to Cinderella, who were a popular hair metal band in the 80's, and their singer Tom lost his voice cause his vocal cords were paralyzed. Dee Snider of Twisted Sister [my friend's band Martyrd opened for them last month] had throat polyps that had to be surgically removed.

Yep, 'singing' death metal is hard. I just don't think it's worth it and would never do vocals for a death metal band, I'd rather pay somebody else to ruin their vocal chords.
Drinking lots of milk or eating caramel is good for lubing the chords up before a recording session, when I record screamy bands I always have a mars bar and a few bottles of water on hand. They always appreciate it.
