hori fight stick wii compatibility guide?

Post by nickfil »

I've been looking around and trying to find a compatibility guide for games with the hori stick on the wii. I hear that the stick won't work with the metal slug anthology. Any truth to it? Anyone know if it'll work with the Samurai showdown or KOF collection? I thought i remembered a guide on here before, but can't find it now.

Furthermore- does anyone know if the NEOGEO stick for the wii works with the metal slug collection if the hori doesn't?

After tinkering with mine I came to the conclusion I had before I bought it. View the stick as a hacked classic controller (using the dpad for the main interface). Meaning any game you can use the Dpad on the Classic Controller you can use for the stick for. So games like NiGHTS and Mario Kart 64, which use the stick, are right out. However games like Dr Mario and Castle of Shikigami 3 are fine. I do not use mine as much as I would like but I know they will get more use as time goes on.

If you have any other questions you can ask here or in the other topic, I will close this one when I get home.

And to answer your other question - to my knowledge no. All reports I have seen the NeoGeo stick interefaces the same way.

I may bite the bullet and see if I can hack the new Thrustmaster cube controller since it allows for the joystick to be remapped to the dpad. So aslong as the soldering isnt terribly complex, I may be able to make an arcade layout that would work on many more titles and be wireless. I am just hesitant since some say it "forgets" its remapping after a time of inactivity.

do you know if the VC metal slug titles will work with the stick? Well shit- i have a classic controller, i might as well test it myself. I'm correct in assuming that if the dpad on the CC works, then the stick should work too?

Thanks for the info. I think hacking is a little over my head. It would be nice to just have everything work.

I feel you. If the controller is easy enough to hack, and I get free time, I may offer up the service (atleast in the form of a guide if not a shop).

It does work on the VC version, it is the main reason I returned my copy of Anthology and bought a wiipoints card. Right on the nose about the dpad. As far as I can tell, they use the same interface.
